How about seeing the bible as the book of mythology that it is and never debating scripture again. Wouldn't that be cool?

by why??? inok so at 1 corinthians.
7:25 paul says that what he writes about virgins "i have no command from the lord but i give my opinion" .he goes on to describe what he thinks virgins should do.
then in verse 39 he says "marry only in the lord" but there he's actually talking to widows after their husbands die!!!!

Proof of God??? I haven't seen a scrap of proof here or anywhere. If an athiest starts to belive in God, then he's probably having personal problems or a nervous breakdown. Just because the universe is awesome and organized seemingly, is not proof of God no matter how amazing it may be. This guys argument is basically based on this logical fallacy. B after A therefore B because of A. It just doesn't add up.

How I felt when I left the truth..........
by fifi40 inafter my disfellowshipping, i felt like a person alone in a very dark room full of strange objects..........someone grappling around in pitch black wary of everything i touched.
i didnt want involvment with another religion..........my thinking was that the jehovah's witnesses were right despite my having put myself in the position where i was no longer acceptable to them.
other religions had no draw for me, and to this day, i still remain indifferent to them.. and yet, i missed the comfort that i had experienced as a witness..............the hope, the so called 'answers and the feeling of belonging to a community of like minded people.. occasionally i have dabbled with other forms of 'answers'..............reading my stars, doing tarot, a mystic meg approach to the answers of life.

Things, (like dreams, numbers, words, events) do not have intrinsic meanings. If you get no other thing straight in your whole life, get this straight. Things do not have meanings. PEOPLE project meanings on to things. So, guess what. You are in charge of applying meaning to your dreams. You are in charge of putting meaning on to words even. Words do not hold meaning. They have no capacity whatsoever to hold anything at all - zero storage space. So, we as a society have words, and we all agree together that when we say a certain sound, we will think of a certain other thing, until someone comes along and says, "Hey, I want to think of roses when I hear the sound fire hydrant. So he starts saying fire hydrant every time he sees a rose. The man goes on to become very famous, rich and powerful. So, other people start to say fire hydrant when they see a rose. decades pass, and before you knowit, most of the world says fire hydrant when they see a rose. Therefore, in this story, what does fire hydrant mean? It means rose. Finally the makers of dictionaries are forced to include among its definitions, under fire hydrant, that an alternative meaning is a rose. Thus a new meaning and new word is born. Fire hydrant has no storage capacity. It means what we say it means, while we say it means something. Its meaning can be changed.
So, about your bat question... think about it. Does it really make sense that if you dream about a bat, you are going to die? Says who, and how do they know? I think you'll find that it is really silly to believe such a thing. Decide to make it mean what you want it to mean, and it WILL MEAN THAT. -

If it is circular logic then that is proof that the bible is not infallible. It contradicts itself. I dare anybody to say or do a single thing that is not securly grounded in logic. Logic is the end all be all for investigating truth. You cannot even take a step without using and relying upon logic. Can't happen.

because infallible and fable are mutually exclusive. They are opposites, so your point doesn't make a bit of sense. It is a contradiction in terms.

they are the ones that hint on sexual immorality, violence, drugs, or that have reference to devil worship.
or the ones that have swearing in them, which seems to be common these days.. what really gets me is how they find such petty things wrong with songs that they basically want to clean out your whole library and make you listen to kingdumb s*** all the time.

It's ridiculous to say that the east developed without logic. One cannot even take a step without using logic. If A then B type thinking is witnessed in infants around the world. Besides, there are many different kinds and styles of logic. Aritotiliam logic is just one kind of logic. Without logic the east would nort have been able to build structures, have irrigation or any of the other advancements they had. There are many famous methematicians from Persia and Saudi Arabia in particular, many of whom preceded Aristotle. I personally did a report on a persian arab mathmatician from the 800s but I forgot his name. Muhammed something or other. Yeah, they had logic, lots of it.
