Someone here said they were writing about How to fade. I thought that was the coolest idea I have heard. I hope he, whoever it was, finishes it, or I might try myself.

How Many Have Written a Book? Or Are Considering it?
by AK - Jeff ini have the budded starts of maybe 4 of them in my hard drive.
i have been encouraged to finish them, but don't know if i ever will.
some of my writing was cathartic in purpose, and that cathartic crutch seems less needed these days.

I have a boat here in California too. Come on out and we'll take your troubles, put their feet in concrete and throw 'em overboard. Seriously, the view from my bow is quite breathtaking.

Bogus numbers in the Evolution book
by B_Deserter indoes anyone know how they come up with statements like how the chances of the genesis account being right on the progression of life (which it wasn't, actually) was 1 in 3,000,000+ or something?
it seems like the ol' blue book was written by someone who failed statistics in college.

Yeah, that's the spin they put on it alright. But, "there came to be light suggests that before there came to be light , there was no light. It doesn't say that there was light but we couldn't see it. In any case, what kind of thick covering woud prevent ALL light from coming through. At best it would be a diffused light like we have on grey days.
Another thing is that the Bible writers said there was a canopy, or firmament over the earth. They believed that the earth was contained in a sort of glass (or other material) sphere, and the stars were somehow pasted on the surface of the sphere, or that the sphere had holes in it and the light was behind the firmament and the holes poked in it were "the stars." See the skeptic's anotated Bible for further info on this.
This shows that we really don't know what kind of crazy images the Bible writer's had in their heads when they wrote what they wrote. We interpret the Bible today in view of current science. Not only did Bible writers think the world was flat, they used the scripture in Isaiah to prove it. To them the earth was a flat circle with a ceiling on which the stars were pasted. The same scripture in Isaiah that Bible apologists use to say that the Bible spoke of a spherical earth today, was used for more than a thousand years to prove the earth was FLAT!. -

Do those of you "born into the truth" have problems with relationships?
by marmot ini'm a 4th generation dub and i was the epitome of a goodie-two-shoes elder's son.
i was taught/brainwashed that dating was evil and only for mature brothers (i distinctly remember a part on the assembly with a "demonstration" that said even 24 years old was too young to date and you should concentrate on becoming a ms or pioneer first) and went through so much soul-destroying guilt because of the society's utterly ridiculous stance on masturbation that it almost drove me to suicide.
didn't help that my father the elder had a massive porn stash.

Come out to California and we'll see if we can't get you laid. If you are 25 and not fat you should have no problem. I know lots of women who are polyamorous.

my mother sent this to me-
by Younglove1999 inso my mom sends me this to me and i hate these jw forward things- .
i want to have a good response when she asks if i got it- because i feel like it has nothing to do with jw's, just a coincidence.
i feel like she thinks i hate god, but it has nothing to do with him- it's the religion itself.

We should just coin a phrase and agree upon it and start using it. Something that would be acceptable to scholarly circles would be nice.

I just saw his picture in a video on You tube. Apparently he was convicted of child molestation. I just spoke with Troy Snyder a second ago and he confirmed it. Troy Snyder was a friend of mine at the farm, so was Jesus. He attended a Spanish Congregation up near Woodstock I believe.

One sad thing about all this is that because of the wording of the disfellowshipping policy, JWs have the luxury of saying that the man is an ex-elder or ex-member. So it is automatically set up that whenever a JW is guilty of a crime, they are automatically not a Witness anymore at the time they commit the crime. So you will never see a headline that a JW committed a crime, it will always be an "ex-member" committed the crime. So JWs can make the claim that no JW has ever committed a crime of any kind. This is a great example of how JWs manipulate language.

"In all the congregations let the women keep silent."
by senoj53 inat 1 corinthians 14:33-35 paul writes;.
"in all the congregations let the women keep silent, for it is not permitted for them to speak, but let them be in subjection, even as the law says.".
if in fulfilment of joel's prophecy god's spirit was poured out on both men and women at pentecost 33 ce giving them the ability to prophesy, why did paul say that women should keep silent?.

I don't know if I buy what Joseph is selling. but I really don't have the time or care to try to refute it. I've already rejected the entirety of the Bible. it is myth so it doesn't matter what the character, Paul said or didn't say.
