Chomsky is the greatest living scholar around. He is my hero. I first learned about him in my Liguistics classes, but since then I have tracked his career and philosophy. There is no one around who can compete with him. His arguments are solid, devoid of logical fallacies and factual. Nobody can question his scholarship - he's that solid. If you really listen to him without labeling him (hack, marxist, liberal, conspiracy theorist, whatever) you will find that you might actually agree with him. I think most people who are not politically polarized do agree with him. He is an absolutely NECESSARY element of free and fair journalism. He is the only outspoken critic and watch dog of current journalistic practices and ethics. He would have a lot to say about the Watchtower if he knew about them. GO CHOMSKY!!! Love ya bud! Thanks for posting!

What is Your Favorite all time Pink Floyd Song ?
by flipper inwhen i had a thread a few months ago on your favorite all time groups.
i believe pink floyd finished very high in the ratings.
so, considering there are many pink floyd fans out there, including myself, what is your all time favorite pink floyd song ?

I'm amazed at how Pink Floyd savvy this group is. Didn't you all know about their Satanic backwards masking? Listen to "Hey You" backwards, it says to stop pioneering! no, seriously though, how does a bunch of ex-JWs know so much Floyd, and not just their pop stuff either? Some of you know Meddle for christs sake. No wonder you all fell out of the truth. You were listening to satanic rock music and had your brains programmed with evil. I never knew too many Witnesses who listened to Pink Floyd. If they did, and it seems that they did, they kept it a secret.

purplesofa, you are thinking of Speak to Me and Breathe, they run into one another and use the same chords basically so they sound like the same song. A real Pinko can tell the instant one ends and the other begins though. Us and Thenm is on the other side of the album from Breathe and Speak to me.
No other fans of Fearless out there?
Does anyone remember "Headsets" on KMET in LA (later on KLOS) with Jim Ladd? The show almost always had lots of Floyd on it, mixed in with other psychedelic bands like ELO, the Doors, Alan Parsons Project, Moody Blues, King Crimson, Rush, ELP etc. -

I never wanted
I never wanted to kiss a man
The way that I want to kiss you
You are sunshine you are shadow
You are morning you are night (you are night)
You are good times you are hard times
you are darkness you are light...
I can't believe I still know the words to that song. i can't remember what it's called but i know it pretty well. I think I was in the third grade when it came out. -

A CALL TO ACTION: HIGH PRIORITY
by Wingman inhi everyone,.
a letter has been prepared by anonymous brothers to be sent to bodies of elders around the world.. of course this is a massive undertaking and we are asking for assistance from active and inactive ones around the world who share the sentiments of the letters contents.. your participation in this action indicates your sincere desire to see change within the organization that has become authoritarian in recent years.. we ask that the letter be addressed to "the body of elders" in each respective congregation.. please do not add any further information or commentary.. we are also relying on non-english speaking brothers to translate and distribute this letter.. it will not matter if more than one letter is received by each congregation.

I am just amazed and apalled at the mean responses this man got from all you "DO NOTHINGS" out there with your bullying remarks that only attempts to hide your pathetic apathy and uncomfortableness with action. Once again JWD you have failed to take so much as a tiny flick of the wrist towards doing a meaningful action against the WTS. I think it is a great letter and I plan on taking the action that this man proposed. IP SEC, with his fat southern hick mouth, and others who only want to sit back in their comfy houses and heckle people are truly sickening to me. This site is letting me down, and letting down a lot of others who actually want to take action in this life. I think it's time to start a forum that is action centered, not bullshit centered. Then all you wusses out there can masturbate unhindered in front of your television.

What was WTBTS giving as counsel to parents with disabled children in 60's?
by sf inmy search and re-search is to know this issue fully and gain all insight as to what parents of disabled children were being told when it came to any further treatment and/ or prognosis; surgery, therapy, medication and such.. i will, of course, look at wt official site to see what is there.
yet, i'm hoping i get everything i need, right here, with those that know what was being taught on this issue in the 60's and 70's up until now.. thank you.. skally.

I am currently working as a special education teacher for LAUSD. One thing I notice that the society does not do is they do not use people first language. This is one of the key principles of special education. In other words, instead of saying "the mother of a 15-yr old retarded son" putting his disability before his personhood, it is politically correct to say,' mother of a 15 yr old boy with retardation" emphasizing boy (a person) over his disability. We do not identify children with their disability, and This dignifies the children or adults and gives them their rightful place first and foremost, as humans.
Another area where the society fails to use people first language is in their references to "disfellowshipped persons" (persons who are disfellowshippeed, or persons who have been disfellowshipped) or with apostates, (people who have apostasized or people who have committed apostasy). Of course the whole purpose of the Society's use of such terms is to DEHUMANIZE these people and deny them the dignity of being considered first and foremost, human beings. So, I don't see the society catching up with society in this matter. It goes against their main purpose to further alienate these people. -

It's his condescending tone I didn't appreciate, not his "logic."

Another unprecedented fact is the secrecy about the sites themselves. Why were the sites of all the planes kept so secret? Why were cameras from the hotel accross from the pentagon not revealed to the public? Why were gag orders put on firemen who were at the towers? Why wasn't the media allowed to go into ground zero? Again, I'm not saying I believe in the theories. I'm just asking questions. Still, some of you seem really defensive. What's that about? Is it more of a political issue for you? I'm willing to let my mind go where you all are not willing to even consider for a second. Why?
