That is absolute exquisite literature! I am in complete ecstasy after reading it. I laughed and I laughed and I cried. I must know the name of the author. I must. This, I see being published as a graphic novel, or even a literary series or regular comic book! Something that will attract kids. Yes, it must be illustrated in the classic 50s style of comic book, Kind of Dick Tracy / Superman style or whatever.
It would be a great candidate for my idea of voting for one book idea from members of this forum each year and everyone contributing to the cost of publication. Strangely I have not gotten a single reply to that idea. I think it is an amazing idea. I hope there are some people on this board that recognize the power and influence we can have as a community if we start publishing books together.
In fact I offered to pitch in 1,000 dollars to publish On The Way Out's book idea, How To Fade. Didn't get any reply on that one either. Gee, if someone offered to give me 1,000 dollars to publish my book I'd be calling that guy back instantly. Not interested in my money On The Way Out?
Anybody who thinks they want to be part of a group publishing venture PM me. I bet I don't get a single message. It's all our loss.

I just can't believe anybody here would have a problem with this video. It is factual respectful and does a great service to the community at large pointing out the dangers of being in a cult and the clear double standards they have. I hope he gives us many more of these phone call videos. Thank you Rick! For everybody else, go back to sleep and continue doing nothing about this dangerous cult. We wouldn't want you to lift a finger or something.

Answer: Pretty much yes. but, eve sadder than that, your life now is even faker than it was before because now you know better. You may not be admitting the extent that you agree with me here yet, but I'm pretty certain you will agree with me 100% at some point. You have started your exit. Your mind is awakening. You are feeling the cognitive dissonance. Now you need to slowly bring your life into accordance with truth, which is what the cognitive dissonance is asking you to do, as well as the universe. What will you do?

I'm with Jaguar bass. The guy was the biggest whore one could imagine. Think about it. What kind of monster do you have to be to be the press secretary under Bush? Lying IS your job in that position. He was the mouth of Big Brother. Not an honorable position. Although I understand he had a change of heart about things after he left. Still, I have more respect for c*m guzzling crack whores than that SOB.

when did the truth bcome the truth
by logic ini was sitting here thinking, which seems to be an indangered thing to do nowadays.
it was about the last several discussions i have had with jws that i am related to and friends with.
the things that i noticed is that you can hold the discussion for about 10 minutes while they try to answer your questions then they get agitated and then angry, they refuse to talk anymore and tell you that they know it is the truth no matter what so called proof you have, and that is all just apostate talk.

The process you just described in your post, that the Witnesses you talked to were experiencing (getting defensive and angry) is literally called: Cognitive Dissonance, or rather, your story described a physical/emotional reaction to cognitive dissonance.
The reason why your friends and families can not go more than 10 minutes or so before walking away is that they are experiencing Cogniotive Dissonance. Stuff is not adding uo in their heads, something doesn't make sense and disagrees with what they believe or have been taught. This is an uncomfortable feeling. We all experience cognitive dissonance in our lives. We usually experience it right before we begin to justify our actions or belkiefs to somebody!
In other words If it doesn't add up, someone will point it out to us hopefully. We will feel this dissonance if we know we may be wrong as the friend or whatever is explaining and arguing that you are wrong. At that point we can choose to adjust ourselves to the new information and assimilate it into our lives (admit that we were wrong), or we can begin devising a way to argue our belief to others in hopes of converting them because if this happens and you convert someone to something you believe, then that makes you feel like you may be right after all.
Of course on some unconscious level the person reacting negatively to the dissonance (disgreement) probably knows he is wrong and out of touch with reality. But, since his realuty is liable to change upon accepting the new beliefs, this scares him and he desperately tries to wish it so or not so, as the case may be, by trying to convince others thereby soothing his dissonance, especially if they adopt his beliefs as their own. This is a real victory for the cognitively dissonant because they got off sctot free, and didn't have to learn a single new thing, aside from how to skillfully defend an argument or position that is acrtually false and morally wrong for instance.
It is about being teachable really. Cognitive dissonance separates the boys from the men. How we react to information that puts us in a negative light or may be evidence of our wrongness on a matter, is what makes us mature vs. immature, wise vs. ignorant or foolish, on a path towards truth vs. in denial. -

Singer Songwriters who should be household names....

That's like saying, "Your definition of Jazz is too narrow, I think we should include songs with disco beats and new wave in the jazz category. After all you don't want to be too narrow in your definition of jazz do you?"
As the definition of words expand, at some point they become a useless phrase that doesn't describe anything at all, or that describes everything. You need warrant for your statement I'm afraid. Just you saying it does not make it so, hate to inform you. It's just an opinion. My post is based on fact. I could care less where we take this term from here, I have no emotional investment and no opinion to offer on the subject. I am simply relaying my exposure to the term from informed persons in the industry. It is, after all, an industry term originally. Some have called "singer/songwriter" the new label for folk. So, you are saying that we need to expand the term "folk music" to include Steven Tyler?
When they give Grammy's out for singer/songwriter of the year, do they include all who sing and write songs in that category? Are you saying you want them to? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having categories in the first place, to differentiate between styles? -

Some of us are really stretching the term/category of singer/songwriter. Rod Stewart, Mick Taylor, Bernie Taupin?
So as a reminder, just because someone sings and writes songs does not put them in the singer/songwriter category. Singer/songwriter (coming from someone who used to have the job at a radio station sorting according to genre) is a specific type and style of musician/music, closely akin to folk, though some have played punk, rock and other styles like jazz and R n B as well. Roughly, it's HOW they played these styles that made them singer/songwriters, and not just the fact that they sang and wrote.
I'll let Wikipedia do the rest:

Wow!
My dad is a saint compared to that MF. Is he still alive? What's his address? Maybe we can make the story end according to poetic justice, or any kind of justice for that matter. -
