has your language changed since you left?
by fullofdoubtnow ini know mine has.
i went back to my flat earlier this afternoon to pick some things up, i am moving out of there slowly, and was carrying a heavy box out to my car when i stumbled and dropped it on my foot.
it wasn't too painful, thankfully, but i came out with a stream of expletives, most of them beginning with f. when i was a jw, even thinking those words would have filled me with shame.

Iran paper plans Holocaust cartoons
by Elsewhere inlmao... this guy is so stupid.
people in iran have been publishing anti-semitic cartoons for decades... why would people get pissed now?
watching this guy is like watching some joker moron who somehow managed to get into a position of power far beyond his intellectual capacity.. http://english.aljazeera.net/nr/exeres/fce073dd-7f1b-4714-95f0-dd1f354f1d9a.htm.

I decided to leave the day I started reading things on the internet. I had been agonizing over it for sometime and was just trying to find something in print I could identify with to help me keep my sanity. Not a good day.

"Apostasy" Sucks (sometimes)
by Maryjane in.
i'm so frustrated with the challenges associated with "spreading the bad news about jehovah's witnesses" i find when i debate with a jw in the company of "civilians" (people who know nothing of jw's) they come off smelling like a rose and i seem like a disgruntled nut.. just needed to vent!.

Maybe I misunderstood your post a bit, but personally I dont go around picking fights about such things. I'd wait until they try to preach to you about some silly crap and then try to point out the flaws in it.

120 hours of reading and posting on here .
if you can't pioneer, try to be an auxiliary pioneer

Can DaVinci Code make Witnesses think?
by Lilycurly ini've just finished reading the book...and i know most of it is fiction, but some of you might have read it too.
as an ex-jw, it really made me think...the author has an excellent way to make one think outside the box without making it look like he wants to ram his ideas into your head...you know, it's kind of subtle, amongst all the action and enigmas.
my father loves to read...i really want him to read that book.

Anyone got a good experience making a person spark using DVC?
Honestly, even though it was largely fiction, that book was more or less the straw that broke the camels back for me. It gave me a whole different way to approach things and I finally started looking at all the doubts I had.

Is Jesus a false prophet?
by scout575 inat matthew !6: 28 jesus is portrayed as prophesying: "verily i say unto you, there be some standing here which shall not taste of death, till they see the son of man coming in his kingdom.
" did some of jesus' listeners live to see him coming in his kingdom?
is jesus a false prophet?

Tetrapod beat me to it. Jesus is guilty of being a false prophet, like Santa Claus is guilty of breaking and entering.

Who would've thought that in ten years..
by jojochan ini would be here speaking my mind as a normal human being.
i was thinking about that a second ago and wanted to share that thought.
ten years ago i was confronting a close freind of mine about why he was parting from the collective, of course he had valid reasons to be agnostic at the time.

I know exactly what you mean. I can think of one friend that I had growing up that I ran into a few years ago. He had been out for about 6-7 years and we started hanging out again and had a great time just like we did when we were kids. I ended up totally ignoring him because of an attack of conscience and probably ruined a friendship forever.
Im sure I will be cut off by a few when its obvious that I am not coming back. Its quite the cycle isnt it?

Shunned on my home turf for the first time!
by AlmostAtheist inlong story short -- my father-in-law and uncle-in-law came today to buy some appliances from a friend of ours.
while my father-in-law seemed willing to stretch the "necessary family business" clause to its limits to talk and joke and be basically human, my uncle was cold as a witch's dead penguin.
if i said anything to him related to the task at hand, he answered as minimally as possible.

shunning will always be stressful, because they are apes in suits, and you are a human.
Thats the funniest thing Ive read in days.
