so my sister-in-law, who is a pretty hardcore jw, showed me an email that looked like it had been passed around quite a bit, so i figured someone on here had probably seen it.
supposedley it's a picture from the movie "i am legend" where will smith is walking through new york and all the buildings in the background are in ruins except for the bethel building, which stands out, undamaged and clean.
i watched the movie and don't remember seeing anything like that so i just figured that some jw photoshopped it and sent it out to the jw community to show that the bethel building is protected by god even in a post apocaliptical world run over with zombie vampires.
HAH! I saw that movie over the weekend and picked out the WT building when it flashed past.
I almost turned to the GF and told her that building was already full of zombies, but she just rolls her eyes now when I start bashing the god stuff, so I said nothing.
well, i know you all pretty well now after 9 months of being on board , so i feel o.k.

i started investigating this issue a few months back after seeing a documentary that intrigued me.
some of you may disagree with my findings and that is ok, but hopefully we can have a constructive discussion and hear both sides of the arguments.
i personally was deeply impressed, to say the least, by the apparent cogency and deep correlations of evidentiary materials that survived to this day, which supports this thesis.. there is so much more that can be or should be said here but i will try to keep this text as short as possible so as to keep people interested enough to read it.. buddhism appeared some 500 years before jesus arrival.

I starting seeing someone who is buddist just last week, started reading the dhammapada(sp?) and couldnt help but notice how many of the... well whatever you call their verses, had some sort of corresponding thought in the bible. Really to the point of them being basically the same thought.

i guess that most congs have some strange habitual behaviour.
i have kept a mental list of the strange copycat behaviuor i have seen.. brothers buying the same style suit from the same suppliers......... sisters getting the same hairstyle.......... brothers and sisters getting the same ministry bags, folders etc..... brothers marrying sisters from certain countries or districts...................... brothers learning the same trade............. brothers getting the same jobs............... sisters all getting kids at the same time................ brothers and sisters getting the same health stuff.......... teaching kids at home............. .

When I was a kid, the whole "Witness School" thing was a big deal in most of the congregations.
having been in the organization for 30 years, after i got out i reflected on this.
as a teenager i was told to not let my hair grow over my ears because i might stumble other young ones in the congregation.
also, in order to carry the microphones i was told i couldn't wear white socks, had to wear black or dark blue socks.
It was, she would spend most of the night with the guy, than leave early in the morning to go let her dog go to the bathroom. The elders told me that this did not count, as she did not stay until sun up. Apparantly that was the phrase from the Pay Attention book (The super secret book that elders rule by). One night we drug an elder along with us, and while we were watching the apartment, he was looking at the horizon to see if the sun had come up.

i was at a friends tonite, and read a bit on jihadist cretins in saudi arabia, who have banned george orwells "animal farm" because the farm ends up run by pigs.. godly honest - hearted moslems are also seeking to ban piglet, and charlottes web from schools.. apparently the eyes of innocent moslem babies cannot be defiled by reading about unclean animaux taking over the world, but.
they can go to market to shop with mommy and see starving thieves having their hand sawn off (but humanely given a novocaine shot in the arm so they can watch but not feel it).
I'm about 70 pages in and while Im enjoying it, there are other books I'd read first (if I hadnt already).
