this poor fellow got in trouble with the watchtower society over copyright laws and got reprimanded.

Mr. Desinger's comments translated into another cult, another place, another time (think Jim Jones):

We should understand why the Society has asked us to drink this Kool-Aid straight. The Society must avoid dilution of Kool-Aid even if there is no violation. Although I believe that these small excerpts are allowed by the principle of fair use, there's a higher principle that we follow.
Jehovah told the Israelites not to eat pork and other foods. The Israelites didn't know why they couldn't eat them, but those who obeyed were protected and blessed. I don't know why the Society wants us to do this drinking of Kool-Aid. At the same time I hope that by obeying, we'll be protected from something that I know nothing about.

Would you buy this XJW coffee mug?

because i have a sense of humor about the many failed prophecies of the jw's, i've always wanted some ex-jw merchandise with some class and humor to go with it.

i've considered marketing a few of my ideas.....coffee mugs, shirts, etc.

there are so many areas to go (no blood, no military service, college = devil's propaganda, etc.

as it now stands, the australian government has pledged $810 million to the tsunami relief effort.. germany is next with $674 million.. japan--$500 million.. u.s. trails in fourth place with $350 million.

the 12/18/04 issue of the economist magazine has a cover story titled "the end of the world: a brief history of an enduring belief.

" the article briefly discusses the history of apocalyptic beliefs from john darby's concept of rapture, william miller's failed prediction of christ's return on october 22nd, 1844, to the churchof seventh-day adventists.

p.s. I haven't posted in a long while, but I'll post soon about my experience applying for law school a few weeks ago (only about 13 years after quitting the pioneer work) . When I discussed the "obstacles overcome" with a member of the admissions committee, I whipped out a mint-condition "School and Jehovah's Witnesses" brochure. After that, we discussed the history of the Witness view of education (Don't be misled by the Devil's propaganda, etc.) All I can say is the conversation was great, the experience was fantastic, I can't wait to get in. BTW, since I technically "placed" the brochure with her, should I turn in a time slip this month?

Bill Bowen's Story appears in my local paper today

the title is: "jehovah's witnesses facing expulsion for abuse stance".

the same story that appeared on cnn's website has been run in my local paper, the desert sun(palm springs, ca), along with his picture.

it's on page a11, the first page, on the top, of the second section.

newsflash!! WTBS CD-ROM 2001

yesterday an announcement was made at my local con.

and i thought i`d share it.. the watchtower announced that work on the new cd-rom is in progress and we can expect it at the end of this year.. unlike the other versions you can`t get away with win 3.1, you`ll now need at least win95.. available languages: the one already available + tjech and japanese.. some of it`s features:.

- one window (instead of several).

I was wondering what publications are available on the CR-ROMs. Are old out-of-date publications on it too? Do the publications include "old light" beliefs...aka... generations, 1914, blood transfusions, 1975? How far back do they go?

BTW, I would be happy to pay for a CDrom.. Just finished a paper on JW's blood fraction rule. Could really have used the CD. Looking forward to it.

Downsizing Rumor is Confirmed

got more information recently.. brooklyn bethel is downsizing , bigtime.. first, they are moving a lot of printing out of brooklyn.

and into "regional" branches, perhaps closer to where.

the material is distributed.

WTS says you are free to do what we tell you

the may 15 issue of the watchtower contains a discussion of the question: would it be advisable for a true christian to attend a funeral or a wedding in a church?.

the tone of the wts view is set in the very first line our taking part in any form of false religion is displeasing to jehovah and must be avoided.

nonetheless the last line of the article states whatever the situation, the christian should make sure that the decision will not interfere with his preserving a good conscience before god and men.. so apparently it's a personal decision for the jw as to whether he/she will attend a funeral in a church or not.

Obviously, the Governing Body, those out of touch old men,are trying to allow witnesses the freedom to go to weddings and funerals in other churches knowing that the elders will do the dirty front line work from the platform of discouraging and "coding" the new rule that witnesses should not go to other churches for any reason.

Maybe they could call it church "FRACTIONS", like blood fractions. Now witnesses may not go to whole churches, like they can't take whole blood, but they can attend church "fractions" basic components of whole churches.

I know, I ramble. But pardon my vulgarity, the WTBS is full of shit.
