  who would you trust

  taking the watchtower society out of the equation.. who would you trust more based on your history with them, the witnesses you have known throughout your life or the people you have interacted with here on this board?.

  i wish people nothing but peace, but i certainly hope people have another source of peace and support in their life than this group of people offers.

  I must admit when I first started posting here I was somewhat taken aback by some of the responses I got.I realize now what the situation was and don't hold it against anyone-I jumped in the middle of something I didn't know about-my fault.
  Having been raised a JW,never allowed to question anything,I'm delighted to have a chance to join a good debate.I haven't had the life shattering experiences many have ,though.I'm sure someone in a delicate state of mind could get turned off pretty quick by some of the stuff that goes on here.
  But to answer your question-There are many JW's I'd trust with nothing,and many I'd trust with almost anything - except the sort of things we discuss here...
  On the other hand,though I haven't made any particular friends here yet,there are many here that I believe to be completely trustworthy and some I wouldn't trust at all..
  So I think both JWs and our group here are just like any other group of people-there are all kinds everywhere...

  it seems like to me the majority of people who are in the truth, are were in the truth was a result of either a family member are a friend witnessing to them and not many seem to have been found in the door to door work.. from my years of associating with the borg i cannot recall many coming in the truth from the door to door work.. how were you sucked in?

  for me it was my aunt who has now even though i am not disfellowshipped decided to write me out of her will to the tune of about $150,000.00 (maybe i should hang around a couple more years)dont think i will.. please respond .

  I was born in it.My mother was actually brought in by my fathers sisters(don't know how they came in)and drug my father along.She said that she accepted the study just after her younger brother died(polio).Her parents and most of her sibs as well as the rest of my dads family followed.
  I find it very interesting how many come in following the death of a loved one.I guess it's the easiest time to sell them on the resurrection...

  On "The New System"

  "you can live forever in a paradise on earth".

  in my years as a witness and even after, i've thought about "the new system" and everything i was taught.. during the thousand years, there would be millions coming back from the dead.

  during that time we'd all learn one single language and reach perfect physical health.

  The New System is the WT's grand illusion-sell them on paradise and they'll buy the whole package.

  Cowboy-who has decide this life is (probably)the only one,so I'm makin' the most of it!

  Life after this one?

  i've been out of the jw's long enough and have been exposed to enough other ideas that i'm not sure i believe in the resurrection anymore.but i'm not quite convinced i'm going to heaven(or hell)either.maybe this life is all there is-that's ok.. i'm not interested in(practicing)any sort of organized religion-i'm just trying to be the best person i can and hoping that's good enough for whatever comes next.i do believe in god,but i feel my worship is my reverance to him and his wonderful creations.. but that leaves my question of what's next.anyone want to share their answers(or questions)?

  I recall a talk-probably in 1974(I would've been about 8)about hiding from the police(or whoever).We were told to use disguises while in the service,that meetings would be split up and moved around to avoid discovery and that should we get caught we should fully expect to be tortured and killed(but not to fear-if so,we should be some of the first to be resurrected)
  I was terrified and I don't think I slept for days.It was my first realization of not wanting to be apart of JWs.

  Sorry,but as much as I loathe McVeigh,I kind of like the poem.
  
  To me it's all about pride and strength and a faith in ones own ability to play the cards they've been dealt.A bit defiant,perhaps,but I can relate to it.

  like many of you i dedicated many years of my life searching for the "true" faith or religion.. after researching and considering religion i came to the conclusion that there is not such.

  i decided to worship god in my own temple.
