Fortunately, at a young age, I knew I wasn't a "typical" female, so didn't buy into "typical" male stereotype either. I don't view ALL men the same, though there is some common behavior MOST men exhibit. Ditto for women.
I think there is very little that a man can do that a woman couldn't do. Ditto for women/men.
An individual's hormone levels, upbringing, cultural expectations, education, career choice may determine how 'masculine' or 'feminine' s/he acts. What's considered 'stereotypical/masculine/feminine' in this country may not be in another.
I wonder if this thread will start a gender war.

Question for Singles: Tired of hearing the "F" word?
by Elsewhere ini'm very much a home-body, so i don't go out much and meet a lot of people.
in recent months i've been trying to reverse that and meet more people.. so far the pattern is this:.
meet someone.start chatting and talking.notice a distinct chemistry.attempt to move things to the next level.now this is where things get frustrating.
-

HI elsewhere,
You may feel there is chemistry, but the girl doesn't feel there is enough, so you have to be patient and persistent. Some girls may also be testing you to see if you're just interested in sex.
I also agree with the comment about playful teasing. That's very sexy, provided it's not mean-spirited. Be careful with the touching though, different people have different personal boundaries.
If I recall, you're a programmer. After working with programmers for 20 years, one thing I've learned about them (at least the younger ones) is generally speaking they have much more interest in details than the general population and will debate them ad nauseum. They also like to frequently 'clarify' things other people say. It's annoying to be corrected. I'm not saying all programmers do this, but you may want to watch yourself and see if you're like that. -

talked to my parents last nite...
by zanex inin the vain hope that maybe...just maybe things would be better...or at least somewhat improved...i was wrong.
i was told about the al gore dvd that talks about how bad the world is and when i tried to say i didnt want to think about how bad the world is and rather think of ways to improve it they showed me a book about "how to deal with emotions" or something like that...i kind of tuned out right about then.
i talked about my job and my dad said, "see!

HI Zanex,
I can feel your pain. Have you told them you'd like them to celebrate your successes with you?
Did your parents praise, affirm or validate you while growing up? If not, it's unlikely they're going to do it now. Even if they did, JWs downplay 'worldly' accomplishments because it doesn't matter if you aren't "progressing spiritually". My JW relatives used to say stuff like "well, he's doing well in this system, but if he doesn't come back to the truth...."
My parents didn't praise me while growing up. Well, mom would say, when looking at my report cards, "oh, all A's. You get your intelligence from my side of the family."
She wasn't proud that I graduated magna cum laude from college. She wasn't proud of my professional successes. And when I mentioned to her that I hit an income milestone, she said "Well, I've done pretty well too in my career." (I'm not df'd.) This is more common than you may realize.
If you look to others for validation, you'll be disappointed. I'm still working on overcoming the need of validation from others. -

The Two Babylons----PDF!
by Atlantis infor those who were looking for this book in pdf!.
for many years the watchtower society sold and quoted from "the two babylons" as a source to defend their doctrines on the trinity, christmas, the cross, and even baptism!
i don't think any more needs to be said about this book.

Having a hard time with this, what to do, what to do
by nonamegiven infor those who don't know my story (look up past posts, i posted it) here's the cliff's notes.. i was df'd about 10 weeks ago for things other than apostacy.
i plan in being reinstated to keep communication with my family (wife and i were raised in the........tr......tru.........truth) so i am still going to the meetings.. well, for any that don't know my wife had a baby thursday woo-hoo!
anyway, the cong we are in is actually fairly loving and it's quite a shock to me since it's very different from what i have experienced for the last 30+ years.
-

If you've made the decision to attempt reinstatement, just play by their rules for now. You'll win in the end.
As far as being shunned in your own house, just don't think about it in those terms. You are freed from the social obligation of making conversation and your wife gets company and free meals out of it. Sounds like a good deal to me. -

In-laws from planet INSANE!
by free2beme inoh, i know it is so common to not get along with your in-laws, and comedians pull off this issue all the time.
i just think i have two of the most insane in-laws in my life and want to share some crazy in-law stories and wondered if others had some good ones too, funny or not.
mine are a limitless bunch to pull from, as they always do something daily to add to the pile.. their home, and trying to make it better.. my in-laws live in a 30 year old single-wide trailer with tip out.
-
serendipity
I love trees - so I can understand the reluctance to cut it down.
I'd move out of the trailer during construction, remove it, and try to build the house in the footprint of the trailer as much as possible.
I guess they aren't miserable enough in their surroundings to find a solution.
