Hi Flipper,
You touched on something: woman want a man who is their best friend. Here's a quiz on what women commonly expect from their friends. I think the more a man can do these things, the better:
http://www2.oprah.com/omagazine/200804/omag_200804_friend_quiz.jhtml
To address Elsewhere's assertion: I want a man who is a partner and equal to me. A man is equal to me if he brings at least as much to the relationship as I do, with an emphasis on practical things.
The best thing for men to do is to ask this question of the women in their lives. Different women have different expectations. The expectations will change over time as a woman grows and matures, and as life events occur.

Men - Do You Know What Women Really Want in a Relationship ?
by flipper ini heard a woman being interviewed on a radio station this morning and thought this would be an interesting subject to discuss !
in the interview this woman stated that , " men many times only hug you or touch when they want to have sex .
if more men saw that holding hands in public, or the need to reach out to touch a woman affectionately outside of the bedroom , put your arm around her casually- without any expectations , more men would end up in the bedroom later with a woman who feels she has been loved throughout the day !

Your car is a giveaway for your sexual orientation?
by gaiagirl ina jw told me today that mazda miatas are the car of choice for gay men, and subarus are very popular among lesbians.
i asked him how many gay and lesbian folks he actually knew, and what the source for his information was.
he admitted that he didn't know any gays or lesbians, but that "a friend who works in an auto shop" had told him.

I remember Martina Navratalova (sp?) pitched Subaru Outbacks so I did a search on that and found this dated link: http://www.gay.com/style/auto/package.html?sernum=496

Would you rather have the truth, or your feelings spared?
by Bumble Bee inif it was me, i'd rather have the truth up front.
i went through an experience where someone didn't tell me the truth about a situation, thought that by not being totally honest, my feelings would be spared.
maybe at the time, they were, but afterwards when i found out the truth i was deeply hurt and confused.

Uzzah, In your scenario, both parties made a drunken mistake. And yes, the truth is preferable to letting her believe she has a chance at a relationship. An apology may preserve the friendship.

If someone asks me a question, I'm going to be diplomatically honest. I'll also add the comment "in my opinion" if appropriate, because my opinions are borne of my values and experiences and aren't gospel.
If I think someone is misunderstanding me, I'll try to address the situation.
In important matters, if someone appears to be taking a dangerous or unwise step, I'll volunteer my opinion on things, having the tough conversations. Or at least ask pointed questions.
Now, where I'm concerned:
If I ask the question, I want the truth stated as diplomatically as possible.
IF I don't ask the question, I don't want people blurting out whatever rude, critical thoughts that pop into their heads unless my life, health or reputation are on the line. And even then, I don't need the busybody admin assistant telling me that losing 30 pounds would extend my life. If I can't eat chocolate and have an occasional glass of wine, why would I want to live an extra 7 years. ;-) -

Is Wife Beating still Okay ???
by Poztate inthere is a situation at my wife's hall where a couple in their 40's are separated and going to get a divorce.
she has a restraining order out on him since he had used his fists on a few occasions to solve their arguments.
the husband has gone back to live with mom and dad ( respected long time elder) while things are sorted out with no problem.. he has not been df'ed for the abuse and in fact has not even been publicly reproved.

Poz, His father was an elder, but his connections didn't extend to the congregation they attended. He was well-liked, but viewed as weak because he missed many meetings due to work. Both husband and wife were shocked he was df'd.
