portrayal of God as a bottomless pit who will never be satisfied.
encouragement of judgmental, dogmatic, critical attitudes
some witnesses might not really believe that they don't have "the truth".
sure, they know about some of the past errors but they bury it because they feel everyone is imperfect and can make mistakes....but are these just simple "mistakes" or is the watchtower organization simply wrong?
what things can you think of that show that the watchtower has a "pattern" of never getting it right---even to this day??

In addition to things already mentioned,
1. the lack of support given to members who are less fortunate
2 the disapproval of charitable giving or volunteer work, outside of WTS activities.
i just returned home from the kingdom hall.
i am an elder.. after the meeting all the elders were called to the back room.
i thought this was an impromptu elders' meeting.
(((Gary & Family))). At a minimum, please consider stepping down as an elder before you or your family cracks.
Yummy - I'm going to set up Tivo....
at the doors, did you try hard to keep them talking?
we thought the longer we could keep them listening, the better our chances of "striking a chord in their hearts!
sister virgogirl: " good morning, we were just visiting our neighbors this beautiful morning!
Hi Virgogirl,
It really depended on how the householder looked and acted. If it was a gruff, scary, crazy-looking person, I just said thank you and have a nice day. If the person looked safe, I would try to overcome the objection - once. After that, I was out of there.
i've been thinking about what it would take to earnestly believe in the god of the bible as well as have assurance that one would achieve salvation and everlasting life.
i would argue that this could not be done, and i call it the inefficient god hypothesis.
the argument goes like this: assume i am someone who genuinely wants to believe and do what is necessary to be saved.
I think there are enough consistent Do's & Do not's in the Greek Scriptures (NT) for a Christian to try to live by.
does anyone think that the alot of x -dubs or even dubs still active have or end up having mental problems or mental illness,i think so personally.
i think its how i ended up with my anxiety problems.i just want to know what everyone thinks about this subject.
any thoughts?
Hi acuragirl,
All my female JW relatives are taking anti-anxiety meds or anti-depressants. We slackers - Mom, my sister and I, aren't.
i'll never forget the time the circuit and district overseers told the elders that from now on the elders would be solely responsible for all judicial matters and that if anyone was going to get sued, it was not going to be the society.
at that point, the 2 overseers laughed outloud.
i knew we were going to get screwed for sure because the watchtower society was already setting us up.
HI Telcomslee,
Welcome to the forum! Maybe someone can point to the 'confession' material you're looking for. I know that the "Pay Attention to the Flock" elder's manual has info, but I don't have an internet link that works.
jws and abuses...coverups..."theocratic warfare" is a reproach...the jw/un drama sodomizing the truth was a g...d... travesty of justice.... jws hurt, frame, punish...they teach their children to lie...their committees cheat...they take part in the ultimate betrayal...punish the wt.

Hi Cassiedaddy,
Welcome to the forum! I'd be interested in hearing your story.
ok i just finished watching antwone fisher.
it's not the first time i've watched it.not even the second or third time.
i've seen it a lot.
SpecialK, I cried at Beaches too! Also at Black Beauty. I frequently cry after sad episodes of House. Then there are the commercials... I've become quite a crybaby in my old age.
