  this is a post from beliefnet.org from a young girl who could use our support...i was hoping some here could post a reply.

  I honestly wouldn't know where to begin with this girl.

  But its people like her that make me hate this organization so much. What it does to people, the mental anguish and abuse it puts people through. This girl seriously thinks she is the most terrible person right now because she had sex and then was rejected by the person she did it with. On top of that soon her friends and family will treat her like she doesn't exist, if this isn't satanic I don't know what is!!!!! The topper is what really gets me, she loves Big Brother The organization and seriously thinks she has wronged Jehober. I can just see something like this happening to my sister in law and it makes me ill, I want to go and vomit.

  There are times when I think that the org is a harmless religion that some people choose to believe in, this reminds me just how evil they really are.

  Do bad things happen because you leave the JW's

  could someone please help me with some suggestions!!

  my family has been out for about 4 1/2 months now.

  we have been inactive for a few years off and on.

  Nothing I can add just back up the people who said bad things happen whether you are in or out. There are a lot of non JW's who don't have babies out of wedlock, who don't abuse drugs who live normal lives. And there are JW's who do have these things happen to them. Basically don't shift the blame from her to not going to the meetings. If she didn't want to get pregnant than its her fault for not using protection, its that simple. Blaming it on non meeting attendance will only shift the blame and make her feel better because she is not directly at fault.

  I'm not going to tread moral ground because I don't believe that people have the right to tell others how to live. Some people have children out of wedlock on purpose and don't believe that it is wrong, and others believe its a sin. Its up to you to decide that for yourself, not me. But if you do believe that it is a sin then don't take an attitude of "oh I couldn't help it because I didn't have Jah's spirit" or somesuch, it doesn't fly. You aren't facing your problems head on by looking in the mirror and saying, "hey, I screwed up"

  Do JW's teach anything about their history?

  everyone here seems to know a lot about jw history, but when i ask my friend (who was a convert) they don't seem to know too much.

  do they teach a church history class on sundays or during the week?

  (just curious...seems funny that my friend would convert from catholicism without knowing too much of the history)

  Its only a guess, but did they not take records back then because they weren't concerned with such things back then?

  Where were you?

  sorry if this has been done to death, i only did a quick scan and didn't see a topic like this, so i appologize in advance if this was started someplace else.. this morning i woke up and thought about where i was last year, and the complete shock i felt at this same time last year...and i was just wondering if any of you had those same feelings this morning.. so where were you?

  i always find stories of what people were doing at the time they heard to be really interesting-please share if you'd like.

  Whats the dumbest thing you were counselled for?

  i was once counselled by the elders for watching 'knots landing'....it became widely known in the congregation that me and a few other sisters would rush home from field service to watch our favourite soapie.

  if we missed it, we would ring each other up for an update...or...if we weren't near a tv we would ask someone to put the phone handset on the top of their tv so we could hear it...pathetic huh...but that was all the excitement we could scrounge up in our otherwise dull and uneventful lives.

  one of the elder's wive's conscience got the better of her...and she confessed to her husband..lol.

  Actually the one thing I remember being counseled for was seeing a rated R movie. I was pissed at my friend because he had this conscience thing where he was so nervous and couldn't sleep because he may have thought about a girl in an "improper way". Anyway, he went to the movie too and I just know he told his elder dad. He was the kind of guy who collected swords and BB guns and shot at birds out of his sliding glass door and then felt bad about it later. It was one of the stupidest movies I'd ever seen too, "An American Warewolf in Paris"

  It was just one of those "shake your head" situations, sigh.

  i was thinking today about that paradise garden the witness always pictured.

  i remember all those happy blank faces, with the rosy cheeks and content look.

  they were all smiling eating a apple, petting a lion, and running around the trees.

  I did learn to live morally in the dubs, take that for what its worth, I happen to think it has some value. It kept me out of a lot of trouble in my teen years, but it also made them a total drag.
