So I believe in a "higher power" but I don't believe that the bible comes from it or that it really cares. Would that make me a N? In that case I'm a RXN.
for several months now i have been writing back and forth to the service dept asking them to explain the difference between "those who simply leave the faith" and those who "went out" (disassociate).
the reason i am curious about this is because "those who simply leave the faith" are not shunned, however those who "went out" (disassociated) are shunned.
i have written twice and received two replies.
Whats sad is that in their reasoning they believe that the pain that you are being caused is good, in that it will either make you want to "come back to Jehovah's Organization" or it is the punishment you get for leaving "Jehovah's organization". It really shows how this religion strips away any natural affection people may have for even their own family members. What wicked, wicked reasoning. My heart goes out to you Elsewhere

my daughters boyfriend was at his moms the other night and the elders just happened to stop by and talk with him.. anyhow, after their discussion about him and my daughter and the baby and what they are going to do, (havent been to meetings in 7 months mind you), her boyfriend told the elders that he no longer wanted to attend meetings and my daughter told them the same.. the elders admitted to them that there is a huge number of people that felt the same way, and the halls are much emptier than they ever were.. hmmm, i wonder why?.

Amen to that openminded. I saw much of what you talk about in my time as a witness. The organization seems to be a haven for these kinds of people because of their policies. One, they provide an excuse for their bad behaviour because if you are attending the meetings and going out in service, they overlook a lot. And then secondly you get a whole support group that makes you feel "normal" even though ordinary people would think you strange. Yet just because you go out in service and go to meetings you can get away with beating your kids and being, ahem, most "un-christlike"
i missed his show on child discipline...but i looked up his website and read some on there.
i am strongly against spanking children!
this is something that everyone has their own viewpoint on and i understand that.
I think spanking is beneficial, but like all things loses its affect if used too often. Parenting involves many different creative forms of discipline sometimes including spanking, god knows I experienced them all. It is also beneficial to use positive reinforcement for good behavior whenever possible.
weird subject title, i know - but let me explain................. i am df'd (12+ yrs now) so when my father (an elder) passed away last year i was shunned by everyone but one sister who came up and hugged me.
since the funeral, whenever i run into her she always gives me a hug - nice i thought.. then last week i run into her at the supermarket - she gives me a hug and then makes a joke saying "guess i'm going to hell now".........so i replied...."really?
that's too bad because i won't be there".
Oh saing "go to hell" is so much easier than saying "may god smite you at Armageddon". I think you know what she means, not hell literally, but witness hell. Being slaughtered by God at the big A.
I never understood why god even freaking cares about stuff like that. I mean how many witnesses could honestly say that they are living up to what their religion teaches? And isn't God watching them all the time? I swear NOBODY ould make it through Amageddon if there was ever going to be one.
next year im thinking of going to the usa and would like to meet up with a few evil apostate types any offers?.
btw.
i would also like to go to canada and try to trace down an old freind - i have no idea in canada where he is cant even remember how to spell his name - should be fun looking under rocks and in hollow logs calling out his name in the wilderness.
Damn Hippies!
ok folks,.
yesterday was my good ol' birthday!!
and sure enough, some jackass steals my car!!
Hmm, I had my car stolen by a bum before who drove it downtown, parked it in front of an apartment building where there was a no parking sign and had it impounded. I then had to pay 250 to get it out of impound and another 150 to get the locks rekeyed. Don't ask how he got the keys...
