I doubt they shun any who "withdraw" or even have an official system in place for doingso.

Maybe the WTS got some ideas from the Methodists?
by onacruse in) the book of discipline of the united methodist church (1996)(pp.
while primary responsibility and initiative rests with each professing member faithfully to perform the vows of the baptismal covenant that have been solemnly assumed, if the professed member should be neglectful of that responsibility, these procedures shall be followed:.
(1) if a professed member residing in the community is negligent of the vows or is regularly absent from the worship of the church without valid reason, the pastor and the membership secretary shall report that professed member's name to the church council, which shall do all in its power to reenlist the professed member in the active fellowship of the church.

YELLOW RIBBON : Show your support!
by email ina lot of us can have different opinions about going war... some can support it... other can protest it... and thats what freedom of speech is all about.
but there's a threshold and we're past that threshold... we're at war.
so no matter what your opinions were before or even now no one can change the fact that we are at war and that won't change no matter how much those that oppose it try.

Yes it is a blanket statement and is insulting - much like a lot of the statements that have been made over the last week to the anti-war posters 'you support Sadam and dont care about rape and torture.
I have not made such a statement so I don't see why that needs to be stated here. Plus two wongs don't make a right so I don't see your point. In fact, you and Simon keep repeating that one statement as whats been inflammatory from the Pro-War crowd, is that the only inflammatory statement made by the pro-war posters? And I'm not saying such a statement was right, but it was a statement that was made in response to a barrage of inflammatory statements from anti-war posters. I think that generally the pro-war posters have been well behaved.

Open Letter To The Board
by dottie ini actually posted some of this in reply to rebel's thread..."for those of us with no opinion".
i feel that everyone should have an opinion and this is mine.
i feel some things i had to address and i can't just sit on my hands quietly anymore.. i think in the long run...no one really likes war, even then so-called "pro-war" people.

Indeed, we are all forming our own opinions based upon our values and what we feel is right. Both sides.
However, supporting the war isn't necessarily being pro-everything the government does, some of us just believe that THIS war is necessary to protect our way of life, regardless of how we feel about the government. I wouldn't blindly support the government if I didn't feel it was right, but I would always support our troops simply because I believe it is the honorable thing to do.

Of course the same statement could be made with the anti-war crowd and their demonstrations Realist. You prove nothing but serve to inflame.
But lets take your assertions head on. If one supports this war and backs it up with reasons why they support the war are they automatically to be branded as "drones", JW-like, simply because they do not agree with your point of view? I happen to believe that a lot of the kids that are marching in these anti-war rallies are misled by outright lies and will believe anything a professor or classmate will tell them. I think that they are so moldable and vulnerable and people are taking advantage of that for their own political gain.
We support our troops because we feel it is the honorable thing to do, we feel that they are doing a job that needs to be done and that they are protecting us from harm. That is our viewpoint, it was not given to us by others and it was not forced upon us. Others are welcome to have opposing viewpoints and are even befriended, how is that JW-like? You insult us with your notions.

Would it be better to have a halt to war topics ?
by Simon inunfortunately, it seems that people are unable or unwilling to debate or discuss the war and stay civil.
people are accused of all sorts of extremes such as "advocating child torture and rape" if you are against the war or "being a mass murderer and war criminal" if you support it.. some people seem to want to be able to post anything they want and it be accepted verbatim while other people are denied an opinion that doesn't agree with theirs.. i for one am sick of it and i suspect that other people are too.. this is supposed to be a site for jw related issues.
not exclusively but primarily.

Gee this isn't a discussion forum or anything, is it? I'm sorry, I didn't know that people were forced to click on threads where the subject is clearly defined. I'm also sorry that talking about current events with friends and people familiar to us has grown so passe. What's next, a moratorium on pudding topics if that is deemed tiresome?
90% of the people debating the war have kept it civil, and its not exactly yesterdays news, so I don't see why discussion on it should be censured. It just seems to me that we have a great tool here for discussing subjects like these in an open "forum", but now I'm going to have to limit myself to subjects such as "Jehovah has surely blessed us all" and "how to raise the number of posts I make per month".

You know they had to change the fruitage thing because hardly anyone has studies anymore and almost nobody but peoples kids ever get baptized. Don't you think that those who honestly believe this cult were starting to get discouraged by the simple reality that they had max out all of the weak minded people in the civilized world and nobody new was buying their pap anymore? Now its just, "go out in service, you don't have to accomplish anything, just DO IT". You would think that REASONABLE people within the religion would really see this as a sign that they aren't even sticking to their former convictions anymore, it was always taught that fruitage meant making diciples, I eman how could you interpret the scriptures any other way? But no, most will probably just feel relieved that "jehovah is taking a weight of their shoulders and encouraging them"
Yeah, the end must be coming soon indeed...
