What if the Watchtower Changed .......
by IslandWoman inif the watchtower changed it's blood doctrine to one where publishers could do what their conscience dictated without fear of reprisals from the brothers, if they also quit using the two witness rule and said all criminal accusations must be reported to the police, if they stopped shunning, if they said all df and da'd could associate with their friends and family, if they apologized to ray franz and all others who were hurt by their policies; would exjws respect their dogma and refrain from putting down their religious beliefs to their faces?.
this is an important question, more important than you know.

Letter to my family V1.8, request for references
by ColdRedRain inthe 2 witness rule in a nutshell says that 2 people have to witness the incident.
" trees have roots, and when a tree's roots are rotten, all of the tree is rotten too, down to the fruit.
with truths like these, it's no question that they're a "rotten tree".

I was not condesending to anyone, but merely trying to open up your mind to the concept that you have responsibility for the children you make and who you make them with, a concept that it seems you did not grasp anyway. The very fact that you decided to have another child with your present husband and continue to gripe about not having enough money to be comfortable in supporting your children speaks volumes.
I DO feel for you, that is why I was trying to give you some good advice. Stop blaming other people for your problems, stop griping about things you cant control, like your ex, even if he is a deadbeat. Its not going to improve your situation. Take some people's advice here and try to use the law to get more support for your children, but bear in mind that you may not succeed, you may just have to deal with your situation that you, yes you dear, also had a hand in making. No, life isn't fair, $@#! happens and ghriping and blaming accomplish nothing. Set a good example for your kids.

Did you have no part in making children with this man, or did you wake up one day with three kids and a deadbeat husband/ex-husband (not referring to your current).
Listen, I do feel sorry for you, my mother raised my sister and I all by herself from the time I was 12 and her 8 and most of the time didn't recieve child support from my father, finally having to get his wages attached. It was a hard life. But your children are also your responsibility and if their father cant have a meaningful role in supporting them then that is just something that you, who decided to take on the responsability of children as well, are going to have to deal with. I'm sorry you are in this situation, and fathers should absolutely support the children that they have helped to make, but when you describe your ex, it doesn't seem like he would be a reliable source of funds anyway.

My largest chunk of something would have to be spanish-cuban. My mom's dads family all lives around Tampa, although I've never been. Other than that I am Dutch, English, scottish, Irish and maybe Native American, not to sure, my grandmother was adopted.

Attacks on JW Rules
by proplog2 inmany on this board complain about "all the rules" of jw's.
based on jw rules they conclude it is a cult.
jw's are really quite like the catholic church and many other religions.

There's a reason we called them the "dark ages" and the inquisition was a particularly dark period in the history of humanity. I see very few examples of this sort of behavior on a massive scale today or acceptance for such behavior.

Yes, I do hate Saddam. Thank you.
And thank you for telling us all what to think and act and behave. I went to the memorial this week, deja vu all over again!

U.N. Dismantled
by joannadandy ini just read an article where they were interviewing noam chomsky.
(i'm not even going to post the whole article because i know with 95% accuracy who will post on the thread, which posters will think he is a brilliant guy, and which posters think he is a pinko cornholio.
) in the article he mentioned, and then loosely named the wasington post and wall street journal, that there is a new call that perhaps the u.n. should disband.

You talk a lot but get to the meat of what you are saying. I'm not speaking in a philosophical sense and I'm not saying that that I am the arbiter of what is right or wrong, but what I DO believe is that certain ideas can either lead one to a good or a bad end.
We can sit around, smoke fine cigars and sip brandy and debate how many angels can fit on the head of a pin in perpetuity, but don't we have life to live? Seriously, you can philosophise anything, even that the computer sitting in front of you doesn't exist, but eventually decisions must be made, actions must be taken and the historians will decide weather we were right or wrong, long after I have lived my (hopefully) long and happy life.
BTW, yes it would be cool from an anti-JW standpoint for the UN to go kaput, but I don't believe it will or needs to. The UN can be an effective body, but in its present state it is quite ... innefective.
