i disassociated myself from jws about 20 years ago so i'm a bit rusty on christian teaching.

the intersting thing though is i hadn't completely disassociated my mind from their teachings and it's only been recently that i've had true independent thought.

That is exactly my issue. It all sounds hocus pocus to me now.

My take would be this.

I don't believe anybody had to die to redeem us except for maybe the devil. THink about it jesus could cast all the sin of man onto the devil then through him over the precipice like he did the pigs. It would make more sense than jesus carrying it on his shoulders.

What has "Unintelligent Design" been observed to make?

millions of complex objects (cameras, adjustable wrenches, etc.

) have been seen to come into existence under the direction/workmanship of intelligent designers.

however, despite the often even greater complexity of biologiocal systems* we are often told that only unintelligent processes can be considered as "scientific explanations" for the origin of these structures.

I'm putting down what i believe is the most likely. If someone can prove me wrong then great, the truth is what matters.

THe reason I call them hoaxers is because
1. They've tried it in the past
2. They extrapolate too much before they know the full story and so distort the truth and fool people.
3. They talk in terms of facts when it should be in terms of theory
4. THey take results and put erroneous explanations to them
5. They just don't like the idea of a creator it's beneath their intellectual standing

Now, those are both very, very complex subjects, and require a lot of study to understand. I mean, to understand basic biochemistry, you do need to spend at least a year of concentrated study on it, and this is after taking a year of organic chemistry, and a year of basic chemistry before. Understanding of general physics and math level where you're comfortable with calculus are also required. Finally, the picture won't be complete unless you take at least some physical chemistry (chemical thermodynamics, kinetics of reactions, nonlinear dynamics, stuff like that).

This is just for biochemistry, mind you. A good understanding of genetics takes at least as much. This is not a matter of intelligence (unless you are some kind of supergenius, who is able to absorb knowledge by staring at the books for prolonged periods of time), there simply are that many facts to keep in mind. I'm sure you could do it, if you put in the required time and effort.

He talks about witnessing protein evolution but he neglects to emphasise that he is working with a ready made complex biological system that has been somehow programmed to react to a complex environment. I've also read another account that refutes these kind of claims
He hasn't stopped to consider that he might not be intellingent enough to know what is really going on with these proteins.

Either it is evolution or it isn't, if it is then this does not preclude a creator that programmed it all and gave it purpose and direction.

In fact thinking about it a creator's hand in it could explain the so called punctuated equillibrium theory that accounts for the missing links.

Good point. He paid with his life and nothing happens for 2000 years. That's a bad ransom deal if you ask me.

IS THE WORLD REALLY GETTING WORSE?

hi guys,.

my name is ruari phillips, i'm 21 years old and if possible...i'd like to ask a question.. jehovahs witnesses believe the world is getting worse and that as time passes we are approaching armageddon.. but, haven't we always lived in a cruel world?.

since the begginning of time we've been killing each other, there's been diseases, death and destruction.

I'd much rather live today than in medieval Europe. Or imagine being an Aztech under Spanish domination, most of them were wiped out as were the North American Indians.
Try living under the Tsars.
The Assyrians would skin alive their captives.
The Romans and Crusaders wiped out entire towns villages as did Ghengis Khan
Boys down coal mines, no hospitals - average human age 35-40 today 73-75

You can say that things have slipped since the 50s but back then black people were second class citizen today at least in law, they have equal rights.

It's safe to say that the world is safer today than back then.

Some say that we exist therefore it happened, ie evolution. You can't really argue against that. But I will.

My approach on this matter is if all biological systems came about by evolution then irrefutable evidence would have been all around us in the fossil record and possibly in the living species. This doesn't seem to be the case.

When I say irrefutable I mean positive proof. Blind evolution wouldn't play hide n seek. It wouldn't know how to...

"I'm going to evolve this system but I'm going to hide the pathways from those pesky to-be humans"

unless evolution is intelligent to know that humans would come about and ponder their existance, in which case Evolution is the Intelligent Creator under a different name.

I think evolutionary scientist are selling a hoax. They are too proud to believe in the existence of a creator that is infinately more intelligent than themselves. Religion has also given the creator a bad rap so they shift their disbelief in a creator's existance to an even more incredulous belief system. Ironic i'd say.

I Agree with your points except he didn't have to kill himself to demonstrate the resurrection, if that is what you meant, because he did that using lazarus. And Another thing why did Lazarus get to be resurrected? Was that nepotism?

i have even heard some recent speculation on jesus possibly being born in march which is interesting.. october seems reasonable with the rational of "shepherds watched their flocks by night" and in the december months it would be too cold for them to be out?

Thanks Narkissos A legend. Interesting. Four gospels according to his apostles and yet no birth date. Maybe they didn't know because they didn't actually know Jesus. Conflicting accounts in a God inspired book is highly damaging to anybody who tries to use it as God's word. At the moment I don't believe that christ was a legend. I think he definitely existed. He decided that this is about the right time for the messiah to appear and cleverly took on the role himself.

What got me thinking recently is who came up with the idea that someone perfect had to die for our sins. I just accepted it before, I just don't get it now. It's a weird notion. What is it with these macabre religions? Everything seems to be centered around death and judgement. You either live or die. If you analyse it carefully it's stuff that can only come from a cinical human mind. It's certainly not inspired from a kind, loving, caring divinity. Now that my eyes are open I cannot see (pardon the oxymoron) any difference between the abrahamic religions and other pagan religion past and present save those that performed ritual human sacrifice.

Hi everybody I'm new to this forum so here goes my first post. I thought Christ was thirtythree and a half when he died somewhere in the lunar month of march and april. That would place his birth between October and November.
