Welcome Lehtiveli from way down under.
I enjoyed your story, I don't think there is anyone else here from Finland. Of course they would probably post on the 'recreation' board and talk about rally driving or skiing! (I'm joking:))
Your English is very good so don't worry about that. I think you'll hear more from others as we go through the time zones, there are lots from the U.K. and Australia.
Cheers, Pete.

Conversation with friend leads to despair
by under_believer inmy status is "fading but still sort of in.
" i don't believe any of it anymore.. i just had a long conversation with a very old friend of mine who is "weak," as in he doesn't preach, and he doesn't make many of the meetings.
he still believes everything, though... he's just "weak.

Your friend seems to have learned the answers well and when reasoning fails reverts to anger and accusation for protection.Remember the investment he has placed in the org.
I've said this before, but a dub, be it a spouse or close friend, will be more likely to respond better to your emotions than your reasons. If you show yourself hurt, angry or betrayed the other wont feel like THEY are being attacked.
My born and raised JW wife left the org. when she realised how I felt, not by my reasoning.
Best wishes, Pete -

under-believer--don't do it man! Just say NO!
..as crappy tract held up for all to see, " Brothers and sisters, don't we rejoice in the knowledge that Jehovahs inspired slave class provide this meat in due season!" followed by 'spontaneous' applause. -

Good-bye, Sylvester
by AudeSapere intoday i must say good-bye to a friend i have known for 14 years.
sylvester was only four months old when he and his brother scout moved in with me - a dog person - and my australian shephard.
the kittens were supposed to be pets for the 10-year-old.

So sorry Denise. Our pussycats can be very precious. My one-eyed ginger fur beast died two years ago on my bed from cat AIDS and I still miss him terribly. He purred when I snuggled him down that night and then cried out to me just before he died. I buried him under a big gum tree with a photo of the family. His name was Gaston. My thoughts are with you from the other side of the world.

All power to you zack. I remember an elder telling mne one day, " ..above all else, be an organization man!" At the time I thought he was the smartest man I knew.

One of the long term effects of growing up a JW...
by Pwned infor me anyways.. i still have nightmares about demon attacks.
that was the one belief that really had a grip on me growing up.
i was terrified of demons and even thought i was being attacked one night for bringing home a toy with a pagan symbol (ying-yang) on it.

Hey Uncle Bruce, I'm off to watch the league now and I don't want you trying on any of that freaky chicken killing mumbo-jumbo that goes on over there to stop the Kiwis from winning!

When and What was your "Spiritual" height?
by Dune inthe highest i ever got was my being considered for a ministerial servant back in fall'ish 2004. .
of course, i also started college that semester, and was given an ultimatum and now i'm here .
but anyway, when and what was your pinnacle height in the organization?

MS and general do-gooder. No spiritual highs.
That's brilliant Brant! The UN shock was the thing that made me separate myself from any connection with the org.
