Very sad about Brockie. Well liked over here and a regular on TV ads. Versatile Garages I think.
Many believe he became a JW. Can anyone in Oz confirm?
Pete.
So sad about Steve Crikey Irwin too. All in the same week! If Peter Garrett dies there will hardly be any famous Aussies left! :) -

Hi Arthur, I heard a whisper that it was but I think the producers have to see how it performs at Toronto first.

It's about a massacre that occured about 15 years ago near where we lived and the effect on a seaside community. I'm the SAS officer you'll see near the end. I'm the one who does all the talking and isn't wearing a beanie. One of Twelve is an extra you will see at the front of a bus near the start.
I wonder if I'll get DF'd now for shooting a mass murderer? :)
Cheers Pete. -

We've Reached Celebrity Status!!!
by Lady Liberty inwell i am convinced i know how the stars are treated.
being considered an apostate by just about everyone in the circuit, and now, tonight i find that the neighboring circuit is talking of our apostacy as well.

When I was in it was common to speculate that if an elder or MS had disassociated themselves then they must be going to start their own religion.
Religion was the last thing I could stomach quite frankly. -

My life as a Jehovahs Witness

Now THAT'S the kind of story I want to read in the Awake! Well done Marion. I am coming to understand that the way you were treated after so many years of genuine service is true for so many others.
The bravery you show is inspiring. There was a thread recently by someone asking whether it was better to leave someone in the org. than to open their eyes to the 'Truth'. Most felt that at a certain point the social loss would be devastating to that person. But you've done just that! I hope we can fill that space for you.
Best wishes to you, Trev and Linda. -

How up are you on the music and musical artist, hot today?
by free2beme inas i get older, i understand more the generation gap we always remembered being mentioned with our parents.
i always thought i was on top of the music scene, as i used to run a music and video store in the late 80's.
i thought it kept me on a path, that would keep me in the know of what was hot and what was not.

I have great delight in telling others that my children and I have similar taste in music. They came to enjoy my punk/pop/underground records. We still go out and see live bands at pubs. And various musos will ask where my kids are if they don't see them.
They have all eventually learned that good music must be pursued, not by accepting what is served up on radio, but by visiting the second hand shops and watching the late night video releases as well as supporting live music.
Then, and only then, can they go and mark their Watchtowers.

Aussies/Canadians of JWD most laid back~
by FlyingHighNow ini was thinking today, i've been here at jwd for nearly three years now.
i've observed that our aussie members are the most laid back members on the board here.they don't take their country, their politics or anything too seriously really.
people who are from europe tend to be more laid back than the brits and americans.

"You should here the songs our football supporters sing when England are playing in the World Cup - rather racist perhaps but in a light hearted way, just remembering when Britain ruled the world (still does in many ways). Scots etc don't actually know what it's like to play in the World cup, oh i do remember them playing Peru was it in 1978?!"- southafricanbeef.
Well I was just about to give Dansk heaps about winning wars and was about to remind him of the 1966 World Cup final. Oh, and the Falklands!
The Scots were in the '82 finals in Spain and missed out on the next round by conceding two goals to N.Z.
Well its 10:04 here, guess it's time to get up. I wonder where the kids are? BTW you Canadians, Kiwis say 'eh' all the time too so we might be more closely related than we thought. Must go and check on my fian.....'pet' sheep.

" I do find the Aussie's love of Mr. Bean very disturbing. That is not funny at all! "
Yes it's infantile BUT, I have just finished reading a biography of Rowan Atkinson and it was decided that Mr. Bean would have the most appeal to an American audience. Unfortunately the majority of Americans just didn't 'get' the Blackadder series. However, most people down here like Mr. Bean.
So, how many realise that New Zealand is not part of Australia? -

Are some people better off staying in the WTS?

my mother is 70, and lives alone (my parents separated and divorced about 23 years ago).

Hi HalfWay There. I think you best leave her in the space she's become accustomed to. I can't imagine the distress that would be your mums if she were to DA eventually. It's bad enough for someone a quarter of her age.
Returning a domesticated animal to the wild will almost certainly mean its death.
