Letter from GB to all Congregations
by sspo inthis morning i found out that last night at the service meeting, a letter was read from the society to a nearby congr.
about the danger of the internet.. they warned all the dubs about being on the internet because many are being influenced fom apostate websites and pornography.. does anyone else have the details of what was said and read?.

The term apostate is used freely on this forum, don't you find it offensive
by avidbiblereader ini find the term apostate used freely towards those who have left the org, by both witnesses hiding and also ex witnesses calling themselves that.
don't you find that offensive.
i have been out for over 6 years and the last thing i consider myself is an apostate.

'Apostate' is name given to any who openly disagree with the WTB&TS and so in that context the label has been adopted as a badge of membership here.
You may think of it in the same way that a black American has adopted the derogatory term 'nigger' as an empowering title.
Gay people have similarly adopted the terms 'queer', 'queen' and 'faggot' in the same way.-ref. Joe Jacksons song 'Real Men'.
I think people in this group can call themselves Apostate with a sense of subversive irony. -

Sparkplug, I'd not heard the word 'shun' within JW's over here. I first encountered it on JWD, and I think it's a good descriptive word.
Regarding the website in question, if you read through to the last piece on NOT reading Crisis of Conscience you'll see that it is a not-so-subtle parody. -

he was rescued by two kiwis who stopped the bleeding and got him to hospital.
on monday night the tvnz news said that jehovahs witnesses wanted the rights to his story!!!

Thanks Nelly, I've trawled through quite a bit of media, but I just found this from The Australian:
"Zak's mother Anne flew to Perth, but family spokesman Roger Gough said she would not comment while negotiations with the Seven Network were finalised.
"We felt the media would have a short-term interest in Zak, but Zak will have long-term needs so this is best for him," Mr Gough said."
So this might explain the blackout on info. Perhaps they are JW's and TVNZ got the wrong end of the stick. -

A teenager had his lower right leg bitten off by a Great White on the weekend in Esperance, Australia. He was rescued by two Kiwis who stopped the bleeding and got him to hospital.
On Monday night the TVNZ news said that Jehovahs Witnesses wanted the rights to his story!!! And we haven't heard anything since.
Now this sounds like rubbish, but there were 5 of us in the room talking and we all heard the same thing.
I've searched news agencies and nothing more has been said since the 3rd Dec. Can any of our Aussies report?
