You're right Avishai, it comes from being one number wrong on your Lotto ticket! ;)
But seriously I've seen bipolar people go crazy with gambling, sex and booze and bitterly regretting it when they come down. Usually it's when they stop their meds or they're being weaned off one to go to another.
I guess everybody has a bit of innate addiction that can go a bit haywire under the wrong conditions. -

Music for Bad Moods
by metatron ini've discovered that, when i am in a bad mood, i don't want to be cheered up as much as agreed with.
in that spirit, i offer the following.
as theme music for various negative states of mind.. hating everybody:.

Everything by Morrissey and The Smiths.
It helps me to go from 'bad mood to 'suicidal'. -

From an early age I've always had a propensity to binge drink and I seem to have managed to avoid becoming a classic alcoholic. I can still avoid alcohol by choice.
I've been on quite a range of antidepressants over the years (6 years now on Citalopram or Cipramil),but I can't say I've experienced the urges the article described.
Something doesn't seem right about this comment-"those who have never touched alcohol before Prozac, yet began drinking compulsively due to a medication prescribed by doctors unfamiliar with this connection. By chemically inducing an overwhelming urge to drink this effect also causes patients to mix alcohol with these powerful drugs."...I find it hard to believe that any drug, antidepressant or otherwise would cause a person to search out and use alcohol if that person had never experienced the 'joys' of alcohol in the first place.
I mean, would an Eskimo on Prozac have an overwhelming urge to skol a bottle of anti-freeze?
But, yes, I have seen people on some meds react badly whereas others on the same have gained relief. -

Steve2 is correct in my opinion. I have been a very long term user of antidepressants from the tricyclics to MAOI to SSRI's (and lithium for good measure).
But I am convinced that long term medication is of use only if you receive some other appropriate therapy. e.g cognitive or 'talk' therapy.
My first panic attacks occurred during meetings when in my twenties when I began to realise that I wasn't keeping up with Gods organisation. I was behind in study, reading the new magazines, family study, the field service hours were low and prayer wasn't working. The light headedness began to start as I got into the car and I couldn't stay seated in the hall.
I had to be taken to hospital one day to prevent a suicide attempt and while in found that anti anxiety meds were helpful for a few days and then lost their effect.
And if you are prescribing tricyclics please let your patients know that the blurred vision, dry mouth, difficulty starting urination, CONSTIPATION and sexual dysfunction may become more distressing than the original disorder. GP's are not as aware of this as psychiatrists are. -

NWT based off a Catholic chosen canon, WTBS ever comment on?
by feenx inafter reading elaine pagels book the gnostic gospels, ive wondered if theres ever been a statement made by the wtbs regarding the origins of the nwt, besides the painstaking efforts made to keep the translation accurate despite how the rest of the world translated the bible.
as jws we were taught to follow the example set forth for and by the first century christians, however no doubt many of those first century christians were or became catholic as at the time that was the first legitimate, or universal, christian church established in spite of opposition and persecution from the romans.
in essence the great harlot herself defined many things that modern day jws still see as fact.

Thanxs feenx.
This has been a relatively new realisation for me regarding the setting of the Bible canon.
Can anyone else point me toward any 'readable' literature on this subject?
Ta very much. -

Welcome shadow1.
Most of us read your first post and put our heads in our hands! LOL.
But it may not necessarily be a big problem. Some good may come out of it.
Firstly, can you give us some background about the two of you, her JW experience etc. and what your fears or otherwise are.
Then we may be better placed to offer subjective advice.
Cheers,
Peter
