Gidday from NZ Firefox. Glad you're here. Sounds like there has been some turmoil in your family over the last 10 years. Can you tell us a bit more about what went on and why you feel so unhappy now ?
Somehow I seem to recall a poster incubus here much more recently. Must check that.
Regards,
Pete

Hi,you might know my big sister..
by Firefox inim 19 and im still going to meetings.ive been sort of unhappy for a while.my older sister left the truth about 9 or 10 years ago.my brother was on her heels a couple of years later.ive been told that they were weak, selfish, posessed and drug addicts.i knew this wasnt true, they were both brilliant and caring of me.i havent spoken to them in at least 3 years.alot of gossip still circulates about them, especially sarah.she intimidated everybody and i suppose this is how they feel superior.. im rambling, sorry.im just overwhelmed.i ran into sarah at a walmart and she was radiant.i chatted her ear off for an hour and she hugged me when i cried.i told her i wanted out, that i know something isnt right but i m so scared.she suggested some of teh online groups to help.i guess she went to thomschat but thats not there anymore.she said my struggle would be different than hers because she never believed in the witnesses.i did.any advice or books to read or whatever you suggest,i just want to learn.she said crisis of conscience would probably help.okay thanks..

"If an elder did testify,,would he be disfellowshipped?"
Yes, if he defied legal dept. directive he has as good as thumbed his nose at The Almighty himself. Ultimately, the borg decides what your conscience should be.
In a very minor and non-public situation he would be removed from the body of elders. -

Jethro Tull - Your Favorite Songs and Albums from this Group ?
by flipper ingrowing up, jethro tull was one of my favorite groups as they had a great mix of rock , celtic mix , and great guitar from martin barre and ian anderson on flute was arguably one of the greatest flute players in rock n' roll .
as an interesting side note : my wifes 15 minutes claim to fame was when her ex-husband and her in the 1980's sold fish to markets , her ex-husband called ian anderson on the phone to see how he did salmon farming and talk about the fish business.
weird, huh?

Interestingly, Ian Anderson and the boys periodically make a very quiet trip to NZ every so often and play a one off gig at New Plymouth for the enjoyment of the local motorcycle club!!
I have never been able to get the inside word ahead of time to make the trip sadly.
BTW, one of the first singles I ever bought was Too Old To Rock n Roll, Too Young to Die. Great stuff. -

Cognac - "There is good in him. When he was good, he was a great person! He was funny, charming, and just a great guy... I totally adored him...
But, it was just like this on and off switch... Something was definately wrong in his head, I don't even think he could control it...
Hopefully, he got some sort of help. Losing me was really bad for him... "
O.K., how about this; Approach your ex. instead and remind him that you are aware of his good qualities but that you can't forget how he behaved when his thoughts got away on him and he began to behave abusively. Let him know that unless he takes positive action toward his mental health, he runs the risk of perpetuating the bad things in his new relationship and he will suffer the same misery over again. Along with his new girlfriend.
Can you do this in a semi public place where you remain safe ? An e-mail will likely get an angry response I would think. A letter might work in a quiet way. -

No cognac, leave it.
As I have worked many years in the company of women dominated organisations, I have noticed, without exception, female colleagues coming up to me and 'warning' me of this or that person. Supposedly to protect me or something.
I suspect there is an unwritten rule within the sisterhood that requires they do this.
It seems to add friction between women and create a relationship based on a common dislike of someone.
Your ex is a big girl and he may treat her differently. Would a warning at this point make life happier for either of you ?
