LOL at chickpea and the correct use of 'wanker' !
Part way through the concluding song an elder ran up to me to get me to give the concluding prayer. I only had a pullover that night so I put that on and gave the prayer. The guy just about had kittens afterward because I didn't wear a jacket. I'd just come from an island cong. where a pullover wasn't frowned on for prayers and reading.
As an aside, I started a trend in a Hamilton congregation with white shoelaces! I had broken a lace before the meeting and replaced them quickly with the only ones I could find. A few of the young bros. thought this was pretty cool and began to copy me!

Were You Ever Counseled Because Of What You Wore (or didn't)?
by minimus inafter reading the thread about what is acceptable to wear and not wear in a factory run by jehovah's witnesses, i wondered whether any here ever got counseled or in trouble because of their fashion sense or attire.

Men - Do You Know What Women Really Want in a Relationship ?
by flipper ini heard a woman being interviewed on a radio station this morning and thought this would be an interesting subject to discuss !
in the interview this woman stated that , " men many times only hug you or touch when they want to have sex .
if more men saw that holding hands in public, or the need to reach out to touch a woman affectionately outside of the bedroom , put your arm around her casually- without any expectations , more men would end up in the bedroom later with a woman who feels she has been loved throughout the day !

I'm always intrigued by threads like this; on a thread where the question is directed toward men, if you take Mr Flippers responses out, more women have replied, by far, than men.
I presume therefore; 1)Women already know the answers. 2)Women don't feel the need to listen to mans thoughts without telling him he's wrong. 3) Women want men to respond to them the same way.
So, as a man I'll have a go at the question. I think 1) Love and companionship. 2) Emotional security. 3) Financial security. 4) Sex and conversation. -

Did Prayer work for you, or not?
by gaiagirl injws, and christians in genreral, are taught that god answers prayers of sincere believers.
on the other hand, there is a popular bumpersticker which reads "nothing fails like prayer".. what has been your experience in this regard?
did god answer your most heartfelt prayers, or were they ignored?.

That was a heartbreaking story Shane. We've dealt with a daughters death but much younger than yours. I can only begin to imagine your grief and isolation from the dubs.
But, and I say this kindly, although you prayed for God's peace, I still conclude subjectively that fellow humans, whom you contacted, rallied together and showed the love you needed. I fail to see any miraculous hand of God here. It was you who made things happen.
With kind thoughts,

No. It failed miserably on every occasion.
Results are no more remarkable than the lottery odds.
The lack of response by 'our Heavenly Father' mimics my own fathers ambivalence.
If I failed so miserably in my response to my own children I would be imprisoned for neglect.
However, I think prayer can clarify your thought in an identical way to meditation or writing a diary. But NOTHING approaching magic will ever happen. -

I've told hubby I don't believe it's the true religion...
by cognac inwell, i've told him "i don't believe this is the truth" like, 5 times now, just "i don't believe this is the true religion" tonight... don't know if there is any difference.... i get the feeling he thinks this "will just go away" although the other day he said he understood why i was depressed because "i'm deserving of death" and he would be too.
he didn't mean it, he's not happy on my new take on the jws.... anyways, i figure i'm gonna say everything i feel in front of the therapist, i need to tell him everything in front of a mediator... not just in a situation where he just thinks this thing will go away and can hurt me to guilt me into believing in the jws....

All power to you cognac. I'm really impressed. Men get angry before they get upset about being fooled so...... maybe something good will happen here ?

by applejuice inwhilst befriending the jw family who introduced me to all this, they told me about the blood transfusion issues which i knew already, however i am very partial to consuming black pudding (blood sausage to americans) with my breakfast, although i have not had any since my outlook altered i was just wondering if it is ethical to consume such a culinary delight without any implications.

To Worldly Andre about that Wendys thing. There was a discussion here about that a while back and the consensus was that it was a nasty rumour that got taken as fact by many dubs.
We have Wendys here too but I wasn't aware of any local boycott by the dubs. -

A warm welcome applejuice. From a quick glance at your other posts I see you're on a 'quest'. Hopefully, you will realise the smartest thing you could have done initially is to ask questions here, so all the best to you.
Just adding to the black pudding and blood and bone fertilizer mentioned, another one is the insistance by some Witnesses that commercial poultry feed is not used as it contains blood products.
There was a time when certain vaccinations were forbidden because they were cultured in horses blood. -

by sir82 in...then check this out!.
(of course the society has $billions in real estate, but many have speculated that they are low on cash for day-day operations).. unfortunately i don't have a working scanner, but here is a summary of & a few quotations from a boe letter dated march 1, 2008:.
"for an number of years, an arrangement has been available to congregations to place funds on deposit with the branch office.

They figure on getting better dividends by buying more Rand Corp. shares. I wonder how the Phillip Morris shares are going ?
