and "rubbish" doesn't mean debased music or music with satanic messages encoded in it.

Is it true..
by iamwhoiam in...that there is a literature invoice the congregation has to pay every month in order to recieve literature?

When I was a Lit servant in the '80's there was an invoice that needed to be paid strictly on time or..... I don't know what.
When the 'donation only' arrangement for literature came in to avoid being taxed in various countries, I imagine the invoice was phased out and the pressure on the donation box came into the ascendancy. No longer Lit servant by then, thank God.

USA/Australian alliance could not defeat China in World War 3...agree?
by Witness 007 inchina has protested president obama's plan for increased usa military in northern australia this week.
i was just thinking, the usa is bankrupt and china has all the cash...not to mention 1 billion people!!!
if war broke out we would be totally screwed!

Eurozone crisis- the jw's are crowing about it like mad!
by highdose inover the past few weeks i've been told that the eurozone will go into melt down and that this will be the start of armargeddon because the goverments will then turn on religon to get their money instead.. i have been told that the greek pm almost rejecting the greek bailout plan would lead to armargeddon.
of course much to the jw's disapointment the greek pm resigned and the greeks did accept the bail out.
thus saving the greek banks from collapse and thus the rest of the european banks.. i have been told that italys debt will mean they will plunder the vatican for its wealth!

sonny, I've just come back to see how this thread progressed and I was fascinated by your responses to various postings.
It is clear your world view dovetails primarily with the Witnesses. Or at the very least with a strongly American apocolyptic view of Christianity.
You need to be O.K. with what you believe, but don't be too quick to dismiss the views and experience of others here.
Whilst I am happy to have left the JW's and have many reasons to avoid religion like the plague I accept you have a desire to find something special or exciting in the Bible prophecies as interpreted by the WTS.
But there is a comment you made that shows your thinking is set and may prevent an open minded consideration of any other point of view; - "...because honestly, we don't really know. We can only hope. We can only believe. We can only have faith."
This is black and white thinking. Hope, belief and faith are subjective and intangible concepts. Millions of people can't get through their day without these concepts, and millions more enjoy life and a future because they have no need to 'believe'.
You know, there is nothing wrong with being confused. But being dogmatic about treasured beliefs can only end badly.

What is the most embarassing moment you've had while still a JW?
by african GB Member ini remember having to preach to my girlfriend/classmate while i was still at school.
i was with one of the elders and it was my 'house' to preach.. wished i could vanish from the surface of the earth..

sonny.alfaro, welcome to the board. I suspect you are quite young and unfortunately you can't teach experience.
Many of us who have observed and been involved in the JW organisation for many years have learned not to believe everything we were told.
Despite abundant evidence of the reduction in wars and disease, the increasing lifespan of people and the constancy of earthquakes, cults such as the Witnesses ferret around for anything that may confirm their own world view.
Educate yourself, you've got the internet, and don't succumb to intellectual laziness.
I assure you, when you are 60 years old, the dubs will still be screaming about how much worse things are.
