I never. not even once heard anybody say "We get to go in service" everyone always says "We have to go in service." And when you think about it does that not negate the entire effort? "My yoke is not troublesome" if it was not troublesome then everyone would love to do it. I know there are some who say they like d2d work but they don't. Unless they like to argue with people and look self rightous, then it's not the d2d work they like but the arguing.

Why would a current JW choose to be rude and offensive?
by AlmostAtheist ini've recently had lengthy pm discussions with a person claiming to be a current jw.
this person has been above the standard level of arrogant for a jw, raising conceit to practically a defining characteristic.
you almost expect that when you're dealing with a member of the "elite".. but he goes beyond it.

Think back and see if you noticed this. Are there not a large number of introverted, nerds in the WT? A lot of people that in the real world are just targets themselves? And are there not a large number of bullies or at least want to be bullies? This religion gives both groups the excuse to be arrogant, selfrightous asses.

The Privilege of Handling the Microphones
by minimus inone of the most unbelievable privileges that a brother could have was being a microphone handler.
elders would discuss brothers for hours and see whether or not we would allow them to mow the lawn or handle a mike.
i always felt that these brothers were doing us a favor but if they didn't get a minimum of 10 hours in per month, they were dog crap and couldn't have any privileges.

I was thrown into working the sound and handling microphones, as I was in bands and have my own PA. This was before I was even babtized.
I remember the very first meeting I ever went to the sound system was all screwed up and making noise. My dad asked if I would fix it, so I looked at it made a few adjustments and the problem was solved. Of course the person "assigned" to work sound was pissed. He said "What do you think your doing? You have no authortiy over me!" I thought that was a strange thing to say, however me being the smart ass I am, I just replied "I'm just doing what you can't do, so shut the f**k up" -This was my very first visit and I didn't want to be there.
A few years later, after being brain washed into the WT, the congragation was in the market for a new microphone system. They asked if I could look into it. I went to the music store i do business with and this guy there was going to get for me, AT COST, Nady brand wireless recievers, and four Shure brand wireless SM58 mics. (these are the top of the line brands) Then this elder said he could get a better brand (Telex) for about $200 less. I said to him, in front of the elder and servent body's "You are wrong as Nady and Shure, are the industry standard, also you wont beat the price." He then asked me "How much are you getting to broker this deal?" I said nothing as I don't work for Nady, Shure, or the store from which I got the prices, while you on the other hand work for the sole distributer of Telex in our city. No this did not win me any friends. They went with the Telex. The $200 less, that was with out the mics, and the the 4 mics he got were $150 each and were made of plastic, had very low signal, and sounded like a tin can. So for $400 more they got crap.
You think that would be the end of it, no not with them. When they got the system they could not figure out how to program th emics, or set up the system, so it became my job. I set it up like a good boy, but when it sounded like crap they wanted to know why. so I told them it is crap. After being told I was not being humble, I said well then get elder so and so, since he sold it to you. This jackass had no idea what to do so in front of everyone I said call in youe Telex rep. He did and a few days later the rep showed up early before a meeting. And in front of the people and elders that were there, the first thing the rep said to the elder who sold the system was "we discontinued this line last year, why did you buy it? So just being me I said "We could have got a Nady system with 4 Shrue SM58s for XXX" He said then why did you buy this, shure and nady are the standards. That just pissed everyone off more-towards me.
But it was one of the few times my dad actually stood up to them for me. He steped in and said "Next time he tells you something you should listen to him."(Before the WT dad and I were close but that changed as he moved up and as I moved out)

orthodox christianity on the other hand teaches the opposite- that jesus is not an angel, but instead that he is a man.

Another scripture the dubs read but don't seem to get is-"There is one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ". Which was writen long after the resurection. I like having them read this from "their Bible" and then I ask,- "Does this scripture say the man Jesus or does it say the once living then distroyed and then re-created arch-angel Michael?" Of course at that point they get so mad or so dumbfounded that either way the conversation ends.

if i want to donate to a needy child's christmas fund, i will not feel guilty....
i will give presents to my family when i feel motivated - guilt free......

Good, you should not feel guilty about anything you do.
If you go aginst your conscience you are sinning.
So if your conscience tells you to do something and you don't-then you are sinning and should feel guilty.

You might want to think about what is "OK" once you are married.
I know they right about it a lot but they like to refer to an 1985 WT artical about proper sex withion marrage. It's a long study artical but it boiles down to -1.) If you can pay a prostitute to do it you can't do it. 2.)If homosexuals do it you can't do it. and 3.) Even if you can do it your time would be better spent knocking on doors. And yes they do police your bedroom.
Please think about this and read a lot of the posts here and really think about weather you want to be a witness.

I still worry abour the "normal" things, family, friends etc.
But I am way more torrerant of people, I try to not judge people.
I except people where they are not where I want them to be. I believe that is what Jesus did. He said "follow me", he did not say attain perfection and I may tollerate you, but you'll have to earn it.
