  Why is it so hard for Ex-JWs to make that "final step" and give up Christianity?

  i'm not sure if it's just denial on a lot of people's part, but the reason the jws doctrine is so wacky and controlling is because they are among the few religions that really try to follow the bible!.

  the bible is the culprit here in actuality, but even after someone has "wizened up" to the misguided teachings of jehovah's witnesses they still hold the bible as inspired word of god.. why don't you believe that the governing body was chosen as the faithful and discreet slave in 1918?

  because the only real evidence to that fact is that they say so.

  I would ask why do they have to? While I am still 'searching" and on many issues have began to question the existance of a higher power, I still, at this time, like to believe that there is one. I am not a doom and gloom person by any means but I do look around and think that if this is all there is, then what is the point.

  I would like to know for a fact one way or another if there is a god, but I guess that would take the fun out of life.

  I'm not sure where in Job but it does mention that his children all died while all were at one of the siblings house celebrating "his day". And "his day" refers to the day of his birth. Yes they died but it was because Satan killed them to hurt Job. So if they were pleasing him why would Satan kill them, and if they were displeasing Jehovah why would he promice Job that they would be resurected? Also nowhere does the Bible say we can not or should not celebrate B'days, it does mention that we should not go beyond what has be writen.

  No my friend that is not worshiping by accident, that is fornicating. Now if some one was to fornicate for the purpose of trying to please Satan or to displease God then that would be a form of worship. (Besides that would be a stupid reason to fornicate) I know where your line of reasoning is comming from, the JW's say that if you are not a JW then you are a Satan worshiper if you know it or not. That is a real weak line of reasoning. They are saying believe just like we believe, change when we change, and don't vary one iota or you are a Satan worshiper. I know they like to have everything cut and dry and simple, but life is not like that. No matter what a person does, or how the JW persive them the fact remains the JW's can not read another persons heart, and therefore are not in a position to judge another persons eternal destany. I know they want to but they have no business trying, nor do we!

  i knew of a handful (which is too many) that were molested by a jehovah's witness.

  it was not typical in my experience.

  Yes, my step son was molested by a "Spiritually strong and loving brother". I did go to the police and he was charged, but the elders insisted that he was innocent because there were no witnesses. Some of them went to the investigator and tried to convince him that I had molested my step son and was forcing him to blame the brother. (This could also go on the gossip thread as I was accused through out the area as molesting him and the elders made no attempt to stop that lie.) The perp. was rewarded by being made a MS and is still highly regarded as a wonderful christian brother.

  People dont get disfellowshipped anymore

  they are announced as no longer being one of jehovahs witnesses.

  why then do people still shun them if they are not disfellowshipped.

  witnesses talk to non jws all the time, so we should be allowed to talk to members who are announced as no longer one of jehovahs witnesses.

  They still shun because it is the same thing to them. The anouncment changed for legal reasons. I have no proff of this but it makes since, they can tell governments that "we don't kick people out, they leave on their own." But to the R&F the result is the same.

  To all of these great suggestions I would only add one thing. She closed with the "I hope Jehovah gives you what you deserve", line. We all know what this really means, she hopes Jehovah kills you. Throw that back at her - She has never even met you but she says you should be killed! Is that a Christian attude? As someone else said the Pharisees said Jesus should die because he was an apostate, and they were "Gods chosen" so she is just like the Pharisees.

  I would ask her - what's it like, to sit on the judgement seat of Christ and dispinse final judgement over someone elses eternal destiny?

  Python is so awesome it is impossable to pick one. Some of my favs are - Dead Parrot, Cheese Shop, It's the Mind, Penguin On The Telivision. The opening sceen on The Meaning Of Life - Insurance Pirates, And the exploding Fat Guy. This stuff never gets old!
