Made-Up Rules Dubs Try To Impose On Each Other

this is in reference to the thread about dubs not having pets.

although, not a rule from the borg there are ones who would say you should not have pets.

can you think of other silly made-up rules that someone tried to impose on you?

in a local spanish congregation...no blonde hair for women, since only prostitutes have blonde hair...blondie, this is their rule not mine...the po's wife in this same congregation once told a sister that she was "going to hell" if she didn't stop watching novellas. sometimes i think it is more than the language they don't understand.

What would happen if all of the WTS in-house attorneys quit?

i was wondering, if the wts legal dept.

got overwhelmed with lawsuits and their volunteer attorneys at bethel decided that they couldn't take it anymore and decided to leave bethel, how would this affect the society?.

would the society have to consult outside attorneys?

about 2 years ago someone who is supposed to know told us that there were 93 in house lawyers at that time. they were hoping to make it 95...also the org does have a policy of hiring outside local lawyers in litigation(i guess someone has to know where the courthouse is located)

edited to add this thought...the legal department is probably the only dept at bethel that will not be in fear of downsizing in the foreseeable(is this actually a word.lol) future.

Abusers and Abusees love the org...

in my experience, those who become jw's as adults (not born in) could be described as abusers or abusees.

more often than not, they have unresolved issues of abuse from their past and gravitate to the structure of the org to re-experience the controlling, abusive environment of their past as the victim or the perpetrator.

from what i've seen, the more these past abuse issues are dealt with, the less of a hold the org has on a person.

one of the things i have observed, because of my experience with an abusive family i think it is easier to deal with some of the attitudes i encounter...if i can tell my non jw family to f***o** i can certainly tell someone that i have known for a relatively short time and have far less emotional attachment to. of course over the years i have learned some tact, but the idea is the same. as an aside, it always makes me laugh when posters to this forum assume that every jw obeys mindlessly every order given by any window washer that comes along...if i didn't obey my abusive parents why would i obey an abusive stranger? the trick with both groups is to make them think you want to obey, but somehow you just never do...

does anyone have a report on the younger sister of bethany? wasn't there a custody battle going on...and that thought led to this thought---how was shunnedfather able to afford the costs of a divorce and a custody case? are donated funds used to pay for these things. i might still want to give shunnedfather some money, but i have to admit that it might affect the priority i put on it...i apologize for my ignorance of canadian law, but i am trying to learn.

for anyone intrested, read---"worldwide mass class action suits against wts" thread from 2002 on jwd. also google---watchtower-victims.org. or you could read shunned father's topic history. all very interesting if not very revealing. i know this question has been asked and ignored so i'll try to get an answer to what i see as a simple enough question...how many of this girls 17 years did mr. hughes teach her that it was an unforgivable sin to take a blood transfusion? edited to add...jgnat i would say the order of events began with bethany's birth and her indoctrination(with her father's willing assistance) into the org. sf...somehow i missed your post so thanks for answering my question...17 years is how long mr. hughs taught his daughter to abstain from blood and it wasn't until his daughter was on her death bed that he had his epiphany. that is truly sad, but her death was as much his responsibility as anyone else that refused her transfusions...and as an aside she did recieve blood and she died anyway.

i was a little foggy on that third thing...what i was thinking and trying to relate is an engine is an engine, whether it is filled with gasoline and pushing that classic t-bird, or jaguar down the highway or it is dry of gas and sitting beside the road it is an engine.

gasoline is the same whether it is sitting in an underground storage tank over at the wal-mart or rushing it's way through the engine, it is gasoline.

the gasoline is the fuel---the engine the machine. and everything these two do in conjunction with each other is work, or action or something, so the 1st two in the action of creating the work, or action or something is the third enity. i don't like to get caught up in which word is the right word if several words relate basically the same thought so any of these words can work in context, you might be able to provide even more. one way to put it---(object+fuel=third enity) = action

the human body is the machine...the spirit is the fuel...together they are a person capable of all the work,action or whatever you want to call it. seperately they are what they are...i know what a human body without life force is, i don't know what life force without a human body is.

i don't know what the wtbts' answer would be, but i wasn't giving gill their thoughts i was giving him my thoughts.

i'm not sure what you are saying about jesus. could you expand this thought please.

the "nature" of man may well not be the "physicality" of man. i just don't know.
