  guidlines for dress and grooming as laid out by CO

  so the co visited my cong and at the ms and elders meeting the brothers were told that those wiht parts on the platforms must not have sideburns, mustaches, beards or shaved heads because it is worldly.

  as well bright colorful dress shirts are not permitted eother because it distracts from the "important message" of the talk.

  there was also heavy counsel on tattoos.. on a totally different topic, i was talking to my mom the other day and she was going on about how free she would be in paradise.

  it's been out a while and i know it's already been commented on here but i really enjoyed the village.

  the creation of fear and the control that it allows must surely strike a chord.. recently i saw christian bale in the machinist.

  My most cherished film of all time: La Double Vie de V é ronique (The Double Life of Veronica), 1991, directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski. It is an exquisite cinematic pleasure; its haunting and soulful soundtrack will continue to evoke an otherworldly mood, should you afterwards hear only a few bars. This film is a treasure trail of meaning and symbolism. The beauty of this is: much of this must be contributed by the viewer.

  Another favorite and impactful film is Wings of Desire (Der Himmel ü ber Berlin), 1987, directed by Wim Wenders. [Hint: when the spiritual life is not enough to satisfy...]

  Both films were instrumental to my own release and 'becoming' .

  What Things Were You Shocked To Find Out About, While In The Org.

  these are just 3 things that i was shocked to learn when i was in the org.

  they may not seem like big things to some, but they are to me.. 1. speakers at the d.a.

  had food catered to them.

As a child, I looked forward to those Sundays (on rare occasions, a Saturday) as a reprieve from both the boredom of routine and home-cooking!

  HadEnuf: Just read your "coming out of the closet" story and, boy(!) the sheer orneriness, petty-mindedness and clannishness of people is stupefying! After an experiences such as yours, one has to know that - for many, many JWs - remaining in the organisation is less about belief that one is "in the truth," but starkly about knowing that one is a member of the club.

  I must confess that I am surprised that Jodi was one of those who shunned you over that incident, given her own, personally difficult experiences with JW standards. I would have thought that a little broad-heartedness was more in order. Then, too, where would she, her mother and sister have been welcomed if such unforgivingly harsh standards had been applied in Sandy's situation?

  i am in helsinki, finland and am very very very tired.

Unfortunately, since I post from a time zone (or a free-time zone, for you gainfully employed Brits! ) so far removed from the majority of JWD posters, any topics I initiate or follow have lapsed to the 4th or 5th most-Active Topics page by my next login. Many of my pet-threads just roll over and die... .
