Be careful. You don't want her to report you to the boss as being anti-JW. Do it off of work hours and in a respectful way. That way, you can say that she continued to push her religion on you. LOL.

Coworker has been studying

i think she said she had been studying for a long time and has been to plenty of meetings.
her grandmother is a jw apparently.

Life for me as a jw (not really) teenager

i am 15, still going to school and i live in the uk.
a good chunk of my mum's side of the family are jws.

Welcome. Your writing is very good and clear. Your education must be very good.
When I was between 14 and 15, I wanted to go to college. This was 1984. Actually, both of my (JW) parents encouraged me to go to college based on my abilities. They had both gone through 1975, and saw my siblings struggle after foregoing college. Before that, in the late 1940's/early 50s, my father foregone college to pioneer. He also gave up an apprentice opportunity with a tool and die maker. He strongly believed tha the End was coming in the 50s. My mother wanted to be a nurse, and didn't do so until after 1975 due to her belief in the JW religion that the End was going to come. So, in 1984 I attended a convention. On stage, was a young lady who spoke of the horrors of attending college and gave the reasons why she quit after just one semester. She choose to pioneer, "As the End is Near and the Generation of 1914 could not pass away." I discussed her position with my parents, and they both said, "Hogwash Skeeter. If you live at home, we expect you to attend college and we're paying for it. Just don't blab about it at the KH" You see, not all parents believe everything the WTS teaches.
So, I continued on with my studies in High School. And, there came a time when I had doubts about how 1914 date was concocted. My 'door to door' hours slipped to zero. An elder took me aside and asked me. I confided to him that I had doubts as to the 1914 date and I shouldn't go out in service until I was more sure. So, the elder removed me from field service and made an announcement. I told him "Do whatever you have to do." After that, I occassionally attended a meeting here and there with my mother (my father was disfellowshipped at that time, since he's gone back in his old age to become a zealous JW fearing his own judgement.). I went to my last Memorial my senior year in High School. I quietly applied for colleges and was accepted. I went to just one or two meetings after that, and a funeral. No one from the KH hounded me, and my mother didn't hound me either. She just wanted me to complete my degree. I completed my Bachelors in Business and have had a good life. I didn't go wild. I now have a wonderful family, kids, and pets. I'm a very domesticated soul.
It was only until after our first child was born and my parents were aging that we had a few "witnessing" calls at our door. After two visits, never invited in, we told the callers to leave and we were not interested. Pretty much, end of story. Except that now every now and again, I get a preaching to by JW relatives. And, now, I know enough about the religion to really give it back to them. So, they stopped too.
I wish you the best. You seem to have your head screwed on straight, and that's refreshingly wonderful.

by designs inhow is everyone enjoying the olympics.. any favorites.. swiss cross country skier "super" dario cologna nailed a rush to the finish line for the gold in the skiathlon.. jamie andersen had a great run in the slopestyle competition and sage kostenberg with his new 1620 japan air trick to win gold will be a film highlight for a long time to come.. the dutch went 1 2 3 in speed skating..

What's wrong? My mother with 3 teenaged kids married my father after dating him for 2 weeks. They were both in their mid-30s, and had to make sure they ddin't commit fornication, didn't get disfellowshipped for those crazy rules, and ditch the chaperone so they could figure out who they were. They figured it would all fall into place, since they were both following Jehovah. In their minds before the marraige, they believed it would be a positive. It ended up a total disaster for each of them (and the kids) for much of their lives. There's alot of "quickie" marraiges as said before, without much time to get to know people, discover each person's goals, love for kids, ability to handle stress, hidden addictions/alcoholism, family history of violence, money spending habits, work habits, cleanliness, etc. The "Match.com's" surveys don't factor into the equation. Rather, it's a need for SEX coupled with a person who looks on the outside to love the Organization. And that, equates to a hell of a lot of marraiges happening after a short dating spell.

Really, a great Olympics in many ways. Happy it turned out safe & sound for everyone. Watching the closing ceremonies right now. The best opening and closing I've ever seen.
The real take-away from these games is that people are mad at the new figure skating scoring system. So mad, that over 2,000,000 people have SIGNED A PETITION at the White House's "WWW.CHANGE.GOV" website, the International Skating Union (ISU) webpage 'Contact Us" has gone down, and Korea is protesting. Apparently, the judges selected for the ladies night were mainly from Soviet Block countries, one judge had been banned before due to improper conduct, and another judge is married to the Soviet skating federation's president. The new scoring completely thows out two scores at random, and then throws out the remaining top and bottom score of the 7 remaining judges. So, one's score is as much of a chance as landing a quad jump. To me, that seems very unfair after one has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, and sweat getting to the Olympics! I see why Ashley Wagner, the figure skater, was also complaining about the scoring system. It stinks.

This figure skating petition is the largest petition ever received at change.org. I mean, with Healthcare, Deficit, Foreign Wars . . . and we Americans care more about the figure skaters. Seems scewed to me. But, several wrongs don't make a right. Gosh, they are showing the Korean figure skater on the ceremony. We have to start somewhere with correcting the wrongs.

My Judicial Meeting was 6 WEEKS ago! Help me with a question.

i used a lawyer and a letter to them after i had already met with them and admitted everything.
the crazy part was they didn't tell me that night if i was df or not.

Under attorney ethics, if a person is represented by an attorney then the other side, if also represented by an attorney, has to only contact the attorney. Since the WTS has attorneys, they should only contact your attorney to discuss this issue. I'm guessing that they will not talk to you directly.

At the same time, it is reported that these congregations in this area are growing fast. So, they bought a new plot of land. The old, Kingdom Hall are paid for, and are owned by the local congregations . A new Kingdom Hall would probably mean a new mortgage. Is this a scam by the Watchtower?

You do know, that the Italian govenrment is making the Catholic church pay millions in taxes now? I heard this from a JW relative. But, when I looked into it further, it was just that the Catholic church had to pay taxes on secular activities (like owning a shopping plaza), like any other investor/busienss would have to do. It is not a tax on their religious activities.
