  i don't understand why so many ex jws and faders think that the jws will continue to grow and thrive as a religion.

  i still attend a meeting once a week and you can smell the death of the religion creeping up when you hear the talks, read the study wts and hear the letters from the gb.

  the way the organization has changed is a sign that it reached its peak (in "healthy" membership) long ago.

  I do not attend the JW meetings, and haven't since the mid-1980s. I will take your assessments that the WTS is in decline. Having been on this board for almost 9 years (wow), I have sure seen alot of newbies. And, congregations are no longer 120+ members strong, having to split congregations, etc. The Internet and information age will take away their followers and keep new ones from joining in the great numbers, and old age will take away another group.

  Why my own 3 relatives that still "cling" to this cult do so, is beyond me. But, they all three find alot of fault with it. But, they equate the borg with being Jehovah, so they stay in.

  i just found this out last night.

  (preface: this is a husband and wife that i have come to be friends with after leaving the borg, they are christians).

  we were sitting around visiting last night and having a good time when my friend starts in on illegal immigration and politics and starts throwing out his hate speech which eventually turns to homosexuals.

  this refusal is limited to the class 42 services in the application.. applicants mark is jw.org & design, for use with, inter alia, providing a web site that gives computer users the ability to download audio and video recordings, dvds, music, digital print publications, online publications, documents, forms and web pages all in the field of religion, in class 42. the cited mark is jw player, for use with downloadable computer software for playing, viewing and streaming audio and video files in class 09.. .

  The fix is to think of a new logo. WTS is trying to get a new brand, since "Watchtower" and "Jehovh's Witness" are trashed. How about www.WTF.org (for Watchtower Friends, of course).

  this thread is for you to vent about anything (within guidelines) that you want.. i'll start.. i'm sick of people who complain about how cold the weather is and then you have two 85 degree days and now they can't wait till autumn!.

  I do get shopping bags too, to use for such purposes. But, I alwsays have too many of them and end up throwing the plastic bags away before I hit hoarder quantity. In maui, no plastic shopping bags.

  being my 1st post i figured i should relate a personal experience.

  a few months ago i decided to stop reporting time.

  i'm mentally out of this cult now but still trapped because of family.

  Very good, you have your wife and friends to think of. You took the humble road. How could they find fault with that. I mean, look at how the pioneers are trotted out. That's against this scripture. And, the money quote has nothing to do with it. Whether or not you do service has nothing to do with whether you turn it in, and Jehovah sees you living his lifestyle. If they ask again, tell them that going out in service causes you too much anxiety.

  When I stopped reporting, I was just a 16 year old with one parent in and one parent was disfellowshipped So, not so much was expected of me. I told the elder that I simply didn't believe in this stuff, 1914, Generation, and if I didn't believe in it then I wasn't going out in service. They said that they had to make an announcment, and I said, "OK." So, that was it.

  By the way, that is the UGLIEST Kingdom Hall ever. Uninviting, cold, fence, hard surfaces everywhere. I'd tell them that you can't go the KH becuase it's too ugly.

  What would be your favorite job if you could do anything.?

  on the basis that most of us realise the w.t wasnt really the best " job" or way to spend our days, it would be fun to find out what people would really have liked to have done with there lifes and if this is still possible.

  or maybe its not even a very realistic ambition just a dream.

  in my dreams i stay at home all day and make a living from being a professional artist.maybe i need a phycholgist?.

  hay out there.. wife got back from her thursday meeting & now she's setteled down with the dog, a v large g&t (maid be me) & watching terminator 2 on the telly with her ipad on her lap looking up places to go for our holiday (& googling symptoms of to many antibiotics as my 16 year old is getting signs of ibs).

  so now is a good time to say hello.. well hello.

  my name is phats & i'm an ex jehovah's witness.. there, i've said it.. this must be like it is going to your first aa meeting.. i've already used up some of my posts for a newbe but i'm not in to the whole long story thing.. basically i've been out now for 8 years (mentally out for all but four or five of those years of my life when i made the commitment, got baptized & married.).

  Welcome Phats!

  May I suggest your next hoiiday destination? Orlando for a few days with Mickey Mouse, then an 8 hour drive to the Florida Keys. Spend 4 or so days in the Keys. You can leave from Miami. Sounds like you are in England?
