JWs, Rules, Laws and the Zone Meeting
by TheListener inmy takeaway from the zone visit and the reaction of some dubs i know and some i've read on here is this:.
dubs don't care what their actual religious beliefs are or how they change but they do seem to care a lot about having any specific counsel discussed from the platform.. .
i guess this makes them a lot like everyone else, and maybe now we know what the wts achilles heel may be.. .

No matter how slick looking JW.ORG or this new TV is, it isn't going to get new converts. Why? Becuase the message hasn't changed. The pig is still a pig, and you can't put lipstick on a pig and expect to call it a starlet. This coveted meeting was a perfect example.
The "not marry a brother unless he's an MS by 23" comment has to be due to the fact that there are not men reaching out to advance in the congregations. It's as much of an admonishment to women, as it is a carrot to men. You want to married (i.e. get laid), then you better be pursuing Kingdom interests first and look like you want to be an MS before you are 23.
They also admitted that there weren't enough Bible studies. It's a dying religion (not by $$, becuase of their real estate sell-off), but becuase of not attracting new followers. These rules and encouraging people to visit Bethel is a tightening of the behavior of the ones that remain. And, Bethel's morale must be dwindling. Evidenced by the fact tht there was an actual announced, worldwide admonishment that they don't have a good work ethic. That's not a good image to project to the rank & file. The R&F should have the idea that Bethel is hard at work, and that they are the slackers to get out to convert. Now, the R&F know that Bethel slacks as much in their jobs as they do in going door-to-door in service. It's all a half-hearted effort, and the coffee shops and walking slowly is a-ok. And, getting visitors to Bethel is a way to perpetrate the image that they are leading a great nationof Christians and it will boost Bethel's morale.
Dying religion. That's my take between the lines.

A few verbatim quotes from Anthony Morris' talk during the Branch Visit.
by Open mind inhaven't contributed much here in a while.
it's not modest and it's certainly not sound of mind.
you be spiritual man enough to tell these young fellows 'you don't go out in the ministry looking like that.

Not use the Internt or fancy devices for they are the Satan's tool. Use the Internet and fancy devices for they are Jehovah's tool.
Not take blood or any part of it. Take every part of blood and any part of it, as long as it isn't named "blood" or "blood cell"

If they are together, you can't really get anyone there to admit to anything that's against the JWs. They cannot do it.
Probably the best thing to ask is whether or not they are happy being JWs. They will respond, "Yes..." Ask them what they like about it. They will respond. Then, ask them what they would change if they could. What they don't like about the religions. Can they make suggestions to the higher up/elders about their ideas. Just ask open ended questions. Get them to merely begin to think.

My family has known I'm an apostate
by cognac ini found out that my husband has not only gone to the elders, but has been going to members of my family about me over a period of a few years.
this piece of news is just so depressing.
i've been wondering how my family knew i didn't go and thats why so many of them have becoming more and more distant.

I am so sorry.
When I tell my JW family about the lies & errors behind the Truth, even if I use the Truth's own material, they can't stand to even look at the evidence. Then, they run to each other and start to blame me. All behind my back. They have found ways to cut me down. Why, as I am not cutting them down. I am only showing them an "issue" in their religion. Then, it dawned on me that in showing any discord with the Truth, they take it was not validating them as persons. In their minds, if the Truth is stupid, then I must think they are stupid to beleive in such a thing.
So, then they really started cutting me down. "Skeeter would be nothing without (spouse)" (when I hold 2 advanced degrees, made 6 figures, and 2 professional designations, and do alot of charity work, family person with a stable kids and long lasting marraige). That lack of disrespect led me to basically cut off almost all communications with them. I slipped them off Facebook, blocked from e-mail, and will not return texts. Best few months of my life, lately.
Shoud I have been surprised? No. That's what they are trained to do. To seek solace and reaffirmation from other cult members. Then, to devalue the person who goes against the cult . . . so as to increase their own image in front of Jehober the group & its elders.
There is no use arguing with them, becuase they are not in their right minds. Worse, they think that you are not in your right mind. There is no meeting them in the middle. The most you can hope for is fake fellowship.
Since this has been going on for many years with your husband, I really think you are headed for a separation. That's hard.

A spiritual man does not wear colourful socks.
by LogCon inwe encourage all to be examples to the flock.. jesus stated, as recorded in matt 5:29 .
' if, now, your right eye is making you stumble, tear it out and throw it away from you.+ for it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to be pitched into gehenna'.. we certainly do not want to stumble or, worse yet, be a stumbling block to the congregation.
evidently jesus was stating a principle here in matthew that he intended true christians to apply to all aspects of their lives and not just their eyes.

One Memorial, a relative came to visit. Of course, I no longer attended the Memorial. Well, she made a stink that she didn't have any stockings to wear in it. I HAD to take her to Publix for her to buy a pair of Leggs. She was having a hissy fit over it. Jehovah would slight her down by lightning if she went to His Memorial without her stockings.
Mind you, I lived in South Florida where pantyhose are simply not worn. Not even female attorneys in court wear pantyhose.

US Zone visit: disappointing, depressing, discouraging
by sir82 ini will have plenty of "snark" to post later on, but please indulge me while i get this out of my system..... suppose you are the leaders...yes, the leaders...there are only 7 of you...for the one true religion in all the universe.. jehovah the god of the whole universe speaks to you, you alone, out of 7 billion+ people on teh planet.. you have an opportunity, thanks to the advancements in technology, to speak to 750,000 of your followers "live", and another 750,000 or so within 24 hours.. 1.5 million people!
hanging on your every word!.
this is the first time in history you can simultaneously, or nearly simultaneously, address so many of your adherents.. what message are you going to present for this special occasion?.
