MOUTHY NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS AND/OR SUPPORT
by Mary inour dear mouthy is really having a tough time right now and needs our support and/or prayers.
as some of you may know, she's already lost 3 of her children in death and the other one to the borg.
in the last couple of days, she's had to worry about her 2 year old great-granddaughter being in the hospital with an illness and yesterday, her daughter had a suspicious mole removed from her back and was told there is a lump in her breast which has to be biopsied.

Would you allow your kid to do a really dangerous sport?
by skeeter1 ini'd like to get your thoughts.
we are torn parents.
having both been raised jws, we said that we'd allow our kids to do what they wanted to in sports.

I thank all for your kind words.
After much thought, we are going to continue the horseriding - but with more restrictions.
We found a new product that might work...
It's an airbag in a jacket that works as a rider is falling off! It is marketed for motorcycles and horseback riding.
http://www.hit-air.com/horse/english/top/
Anyone used one of these? It's about $500 - alot cheaper than a spinal cord.

I'd like to get your thoughts. We are torn parents. Having both been raised JWs, we said that we'd allow our kids to do what they wanted to in sports.
That all changed this past week, when we saw our 7 year old take a "heads first" plung into the dirt from the pony. The pony was changing from a trot to a canter. At the last split second, the body twisted and the shoulder struck first. We've seen falls before, but this one had the potential to be really, really bad.
Horseback riding is 10 times more dangerous than motorcycles. Serious accidents are said to happen once in every 200 hours of leisure riding.
The 7 year old loves horses, wants to grow up being a vet or a rodeo star or a cowboy. It's been this way since two years old! Movies, books, room, etc. are all about horses & farm life.
What do we do? Stop riding, and spoil dreams? Keep riding, and risk wheelchair/death? If something happened, I could not live with myself.
In an Equine Quandry, asking your opinion...

MY HUSBAND HAD A HEART ATTACK, NOT DOING WELL
by orangefatcat ini guess many of you wondered where i have been off to again ... mylast post was about my hospital stay and now marco is in the hospital since monday in critacal conditon, requiring a quadruple by pass.. the most important thing right now is to make sure they stablize him and the hospital has run many tests to see if he can take the strain of this operation.. he saw the neurologist (marco had a history of brain aneurysms) and the neurologist has given the okay and now he needs to have a memory test from the occupational therapist.. if his memory is not good they can't do the surgery as in the case of marco being 78 yrs old and having early dementia it poses a problem.
apparently with bypass surgery it can lead to full blown memory lose.
and this is my major worry.

Is shunning scriptural? At all?
by Open mind init's obvious that the jw view of shunning goes way beyond anything called for in the bible.
1 cor 5:11-13 says,(nwt) "but now i am writing you to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man.
for what do i have to do with judging those outside?

Over Easter, I picked up the old Bible...and opened right to this in John 20
Jesus Appears to Thomas
24 Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!"
But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it."26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" 27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."
28 Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
29 Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
Jesus did not shun Thomas simply because he doubted Jesus. Instead, Jesus worked with him. So, no, shunning for questioning the Truth is not scriptural.

Reaction from JW relative who I sent the Associated Press story:
This is a one sided story. I need to hear both sides. If I was a Judge I would have to. Since I dont have both sides I will not believe anything.
Brainwashed, pure brainwashed. This response totally convinces me that I'm dealing with a cult. Any thoughts? Also, what was the name of the elder on America's Most Wanted? Skeeter

Just what the world needs, another stinkin' lawyer. (Just kidding).
So, which is worse....the Socrates method of teaching, preparing for law school exams, post-exam-mortem, or the worry over class rank? (The post-exam mortem is awful after the Bar). Don't worry, it gets worse.....clients who sue you, clients who stalk you, clients who don't listen to you, clients who don't pay bills, partners that overwork you, partners that yell at you, drunk partners, old married partners that make a pass at you, billable hours, finding time to do CLE. But, there is a glimmer of hope....a good legal secretary.
Congratulations on a job well done,
Skeeter
