  it is in a jpg format right now.. i wonder how it got up there...

  Can someone help me know how to work with JPG to get it to a printable size and format?

  Try placing it in a MSWord file or PowerPoint. Also, most operating systems allow you to print a JPG and supply a wizard to walk you through.

  As I mentioned above, I have it in PDF but ...on dial-up, 3MB might take a while.

  JW Change Regarding Father's Day ?

  my brother, who is an elder, called my father on father's day.

  he has never called him on father's day before.

  has there been a change in the jws attitude toward father's day or was it just a coincidence?

  Blondie and Warlock,

  I was always the one who ate turkey on Thanksgiving ("it's only a meal"). It is doubtful that my brother is softening but ...not impossible.

  I have not spoken with him for 15 years or so ....we all know the drill as to why.

  My non-JW siblings report him as being as smug as ever so...who knows.

  Thanks for the information.

  He may have honestly forgotten it was Father's Day....but I wanted to check with the experts here. :-)

  Governing Body goes out in service?

  just curious--is anybody here knowledgable in how much time the various governing body members spend "sharing in the field ministry" after they are appointed?

  specifically, going door to door?

  I've seen Martin Pötzinger out in service while he was on the GB. He would engage in "street work" at a local subway station. I'm in NYC fairly often and when I see JWs doing street work they usually have a "display" and are talking to each other. Only if someone approaches them will they witness. Pötzinger would yell out the title of the Watchtower articles and generally make himself known far and wide. I've seen George Gangas engage in street work also while he was on the GB. I think he scared many, though, as he walked kinda' slumped over and he had a fairly heavy accent... :-)

  I'm not certain what you are studying but any decent education involves looking at the history of the topic(s) being studied...from medical science to social sciences.

  Even interpersonal relationships involve learning the history of the other.

  Your analogy (comparing operating systems) rings hollow...perhaps a superficial consumer model would work like that but absolutely nothing of substance.

  Be certain to camouflage such a dismissive attitude when speaking to anyone who matters to you…a professor, a potential employer, a potential spouse…
