It might be better to not even have the Internet. April 15th WT
by life is to short inok i was just blown away when i heard this today while driving, at first i thought it was the some old same old but then it went on and it seems like it is on a different level.. the subheading is "guard your heart by exercising self-control.
on page 27 par 17 it says "one way a person could wonder into the foolish course of the "young man in want of heart" is by aimlessly flipping though television channels or surfing the internet.
whether intentionally or not, he might chance upon sexually stimulating scenes.

As far as the Internet goes, Mad Sweeney's comment is something I'll echo - how many jws really decide not to have Internet? We're never told who these people are - they are under the guise of "some". Now, there probably are a few who don't have it, but that's likely because they can't afford it. If a jw can afford it, it's a pretty good bet they'll have it.
My Mom is one of those Witnesses who is terrified of having the internet in their home. A couple of years ago, I offered to give her an extra computer that I didn't need. Her reaction was one of terror. She didn't want Satan to have access to her house. That Satan, he's a crafty MF.
The statement the WT made that "some people have decided not to have a computer in their home" is WT speak for "do not have a computer in your home"
My Dad (who was never a Witness) has to come to my house to research products he wants to buy or read up about college football recruiting and other things he's interested in. My Dad never comes over and asks to look at the latest porn, and he's never "accidentally" gotten into a porn site. He's never even accidentally went to the women's underwear section at Sears online.
They use "porn" as a scare tactic to keep people away. In Dubland the internet and porn just go together. We all know the WT is really afraid of the rank and file reading sites like this and turning away from the Corporation Religion.

Did having children make you a better or worse JW
by journey-on inafter i had children, i changed gradually in the way i thought about the religion i was raised in.
one day, it dawned on me that if my child was injured in an accident and needed blood to survive, there was no way in the world i would say "no" to a blood transfusion.
why continue the charade?

I was willing to put up with the crap myself, but no way in hell was I going to allow it for my kids.
Burns, I felt the same way. Of course my daughter was born 6 years after I was disfellowshipped, but the pressure to come back was always present.
I remember once, the elders came by here one Saturday morning. It was early Spring, must have been the Memorial Call. Anyway, my kids were probably 7 and 4 years old and were outside playing. It was a beautiful day, they didn't have a care in the world. One of the elders made the comment that my kids would benefit from the truth. I got a feeling in my stomach that I can't explain.
Now my kids are 14 and 17. Both are honor students, both keep an eye to the future, we didn't need "the truth" to keep them off drugs and out of trouble. My daughter is not promiscuous, even though she never heard the evils of sex from the podium 3 times a week. My kids are NORMAL. My kids can actually tell me if they have a problem without worrying that I will call the Gestapo on them.
With that said, you have to wonder how much different things would be had I went back and dragged my poor babies with me.

by flipper ini would assume that some or a good number of us here as normal humans in this society - consider " lawless " actions to include murder , robbery, extortion, rape, child abuse, war , terrorism, etc.
the wt society has their own definition of what's considered " lawless ".
anything that's considered a disfellowshipping offense in the jehovah's witnesses is now considered " lawless ".

Arg, narcissistic is not the same. I've known guys like that. They put off a different vibe. But the whole narcissistic thing can go both ways, he will be sickeninly good, or awfully bad.
Women can be narcissistic too. I know I'm spelling that wrong. I once had a guy tell me I was a lesbian because I wouldn't go out with him when I was 17. That dude was just a dick.
