One of my favorites, is to brown some chicken in olive oil, then add onion, garlic, carrot, oregano, and leek. Add chicken broth, and simmer. Then strain everything out, so you are left with the broth. Add chopped kale, cook until tender, then add some tortellini. When that is done al-dente, add the chicken back in and serve with parmesan and cracked black pepper.

May I suggest we have a weigh in thread for each week? In "Activities" or something? Something like 10 in 10 Challenge 12/30-01/06 and so on? The "Friends" folder is so busy, it's hard to find things.

Thanks Frequent Fader, I was going to say the same thing. I see the results in my own experience.

I am absolutely in!! I use FitDay.com, its great. We are planning a trip to Mexico at the end of May. I'd like to drop 20 lbs by then. I'll be starting tomorrow. I've spent the day cleaning out the cabinets and the fridge. And no, I don't mean cleaning them out by eating everything!!!

I went to the doctor today and was told I'm going to hell!!!!!!!!!!
by changeling ini went to my gp today.
i go there quite often since he's also my parent's doctor and i bring them to all their appointments.. i take my dad there at least once a month for blood work since he is on blood thinners, so i'm very familiar with the lady who draws blood.. today i had to have blood drawn myself, and the lady inquired about my parents.
she asked if they had had a nice christmas.

Yes JG, if I were to walk past a Temple or Mosque, I would expect to see believers. However I would not expect them to harass me personally in, for example, a doctor's office. In general, Christianity is the religion that evangelizes. Most others do not go actively looking to recruit. Frankly, I think it's just plain rude and ignorant.

Why should you even let it bother you? If you dont believe in hell, then so what?
JG, I'm gonna bet you don't believe in Buddhism, but if you went about your daily business, and everyone had some darn thing to say about it, you'd be irritated too. This is a subject that shouldn't have to come up in our daily routine, unless we go looking for it.

I wonder, though, if she had said something you felt helpful or encouraging related to God or faith, would that have been a problem?
hmike, isn't that kind of the whole point here? Why does anyone feel the need to push their beliefs on others, be they JW's or any other group? What is this presumptuousness and superiority that makes people think they need to evangelize unasked? I surely never see Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims............etc. doing that, and those are the majority of people I come in contact with living in the SIlicon Valley as I do.

Is the world really getting worse?
by Wordly Andre ini don't have to tell you how jw's use the line about how the world is just getting worse and it's a sign that we are in the end times.
what is your thought on the world?
is it really getting worse, or does every generation say that?

Mouthy and Fairmind, I have to ask you to think back to biblical times. What was life like for a woman? Having read aplenty on this subject, we are 100 percent better off today. We may not be at goal, but my gosh I would not want to trade places with ANY of my sisters in history.
Terrorism. What do you think the neighboring tribes practiced?? We won't even bring up the Vikings again ^.^
Deficit Spending. Well, that would be an American issue, and ahhhemmm, directly relates to Republicans in office, and has for years. They spend like maniacs, and leave the Dems to clean things up while the shortsighted public complains. Deficit spending is nothing new, the Crusades are a perfect example.
I personally leave my door unlocked every day. (Don't come looking for my house!) I think it's often a matter of perception and neighborhood.
This is NOT to say we don't have a lot of work to do, but are these issues really anything compared to life in the past? Read a book called "Eye Witness to History" by John Carey. It's amazing how people really lived. You will be thrilled to live today, where a boy doesn't die 3 days after taking a fall, and breaking his leg.
