"whites only" scholarship
by crownboy inthe aclu has recently defended the right of a college republican group to issue a "whites only" scholarship on free speech grounds.
even before knowing the aclu (of which i am a proud member) was involved, my sentiments pretty much mirrored their's.

Football predictions for "egg chasers" (NFL)
by crownboy inwell, the upcoming nfl season is about to start in two days, with my team the new york jets being involved in the opening game.
now i was a little discouraged when our starting qb chad pennington (the best in the nfl) went down earlier in the preseason with an injury that will keep him out for more than half the season, but fortunately for the jets, they're one of the few nfl teams with a backup qb that can be a quality starter, so i don't expect that we will have much of a drop off with vinny testaverde taking the reigns temporarily.
he'll surpass 40,000 career passing yards this year, and he also has a stronger arm than does pennington, so look for deep plays to the wide receivers.

The 10 point resolution adopted at the 2003 District Conventions
by crownboy inas most of you probably already know, from time to time the watchtower society likes to use district conventions as a platform for adopting silly resolutions, which more than likely are forgotten by the people who gave their approval to it by the time they leave the parking lot of the convention.
this year, during the final talk of the convention (talk entitled: "keep bearing much fruit to jehovah's glory"), a ten point resolution was adopted, with all the baby seal-like clapping following its adoption.

i've recently had a very thought provoking experience.. i was playing basketball with some guys i used to know from high school.. like all basketball players we were talking trash.. .

my congregation is having a bethelite come in and do this talk, but really, what's so damn special about the special talk anyway?

It's ridiculous that the Supreme Court even has to look at this case
by crownboy inwell, today the supreme court listened to oral arguments in a case titled lawrence v. texas .
the supreme court will decide whether a texas anti- sodomy law specifically targeting homosexuals is constitutional or not.
i was just suprised that this is even still an issue today.

i'm not for discriminating against people based on religion, and the government should indeed do its best to accomodate people's religious inclinations, but i think i'll have to side with the government in this case, and against the religious people.. http://news.mpr.org/features/200212/12_stawickie_licenses/
