  Psychology is the deception of the devil

  while driving today i decided to listen to am radio for a change, and came across a religious station.

  their guest (don't remember who) had just written a book denouncing psychology and psychotherapay, calling it the "devil's deception".

  he derided christian clergy who have taken training in counseling, saying they are pawns of the devil if they don't rely soley on the bible in helping people.

  "Eric Fromm - Fromm believes that culture is the major shaper of personality. He believes in character types. Authoritarian, humanistic, receiptive, exploitative, hoarding and productive. He also believed in forms of relatedness."
  
  This is the one that I can relate to most ie the one that I can see empirical evidence for. And it is easy to test for. All you have to do is go to a country whose culture is quite different from yours and start getting pally with the natives. You will quickly find that there is a base personality that they share with each other. Maybe characteristic traits is more accurate. But anyway the upshot of it is that you pretty much know how the majority will react to a situation. You can easily apply this to JWism as they all share the same cultural environment with all it's constraints that they fanatically subscribe to.

  I don't really know their view on Jesus in detail I know they have relugated him, but then again as lilly said they believe that he will rule for 1000 years so there they promote him. What I do believe which happens to coincides with their belief and the Moslems for that matter is that the Christ was not the Almighty.
  
  Why? Because as I've stated many times on this forum I don't believe that God Almighty would let himself be humiliated and "killed" by insolent Jews and idolatrous Romans. Take a look at his history in the OT and you may see my point. The whole idea is ridiculous anyway.
  
  The Christians had to promote their own God or that God was so close to them, even physically, that there is no point arguing who is in His favour. It's like a trump card.

  My point was a juxtaposition to blondie's position which seemed to preclude ugly people going with beautiful people, in which case she would be saying that ugly people have no right to beautiful people which given your response you would also object to.
  
  What I find in reality though is all else being equal beautiful women go for good looking men, I'm currently sharing a house with two such women. They won't compromise on looks and have been single for the last 2 to 4 years. I mean one of them wouldn't even contemplate going to a simple lunch with me where we'd be seen by her 20yo something friends just because in her superficial mind I'm not top looking (and I;m not even considered ugly by the people that know me).

  Are these rumour or for real?
  Are we talking about a 70 year old with a 50 year old (which is reasonable) or with a 30 year old(which is dodgy)?
  Younger women are attracted to power and people with power are attracted to younger women nevermind how close the end is.

  what was it that the citizens of the greco-roman world was missing that they would grasp at this vague character as a saviour even though ironically had died on a cross like a criminal?

  how many of us today (60 years after his murder) would believe that gandhi was the son of god had he or his followers made that claim?

  Are they thinking of sending any to Falujah and Bagdad. I hope not cos I don't think tempting Jehovah is a good idea.
