Speaking of math - can someone write an equation for the following. Thanks.
lets say you have two numbers you want to multiply in your head. say 1300 x 35 = 10 x 1300 x 3 + .5(1300)
Is there a consistent forumula for this process as well as the reverse for division?

Let me see if I can explain classical inflation. Obviously the price of oil has an impact. But usually temporary price surges in raw materials even out in relatively short order. But let's say that
country A has 10 dollars and country B has 10 dollars
If country A prints 10 more dollars without any increase in the underlying value, (which is another name for counterfeiting) they now have 20 dollars that are still worth 10 dollars of country B's currency. So in real terms
when the country A doubles it's supply of money relative to the country B.
That makes country A's dollar worth only 50 cents in terms of country B's currency. So let's say
$10 of country A will buy 1 bottle of imported wine from country B. Now country B will simply require $20 from country A for the same bottle of wine even though the bottle of wine hasn't changed intrinsiclly.
Hope that makes sense. -

New baptismal questions...........................What is the real meaning?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inon the basis of the sacrifice of jesus christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to jehovah to do his will?
do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of jehovah's witnesses in association with god's spirit-directed organization?
question # 2 had to be drawn up by a lawyer.

What just fractures me is what they've done to those questions. The 2nd one in particular. Goodbye holy spirit. Goodbye Jesus.
*** w73 5/1 280 Baptizing Follows Discipling ***
If you feel the same about serving Jehovah God and taking Christs yoke upon you, we suggest that you consider the following two questions, which are asked of candidates for baptism:
(1) Have you repented of your sins and turned around, recognizing yourself before Jehovah God as a condemned sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him, the Father, through his Son Jesus Christ?
(2) On the basis of this faith in God and in his provision for salvation, have you dedicated yourself unreservedly to God to do his will henceforth as he reveals it to you through Jesus Christ and through the Bible under the enlightening power of the holy spirit?
And the questions for baptism in 1985 were as follows:
*** w85 6/1 30 Subjecting Ourselves to Jehovah by Dedication ***
(1) On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?
(2) Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovahs Witnesses in association with Gods spirit-directed organization? -

Death is a Terrible thing...
by KW13 inhas it sunk in for you people that your going to die yet?
i'm still avoiding the thought but it lurks in the back of my mind, i'm aware someday i've got to address it - like many here i didnt expect to live this far in this system, so i haven't any plan for life as of yet.. death frightens me.
i cannot sometimes watch a film with death of a character in a tragic way - there one moment with family/friends and a life and then not...i read the story about challenger the rocket that exploded and how the crew onboard that shuttle may well of been aware they were going to die.

I agree with Ian. It is those who remain who must continue to not only bear the burden of the loss, but also look forward to their own coming demise before they can rest while watching the medical/drug/legal/undertaking/insurance rackets and formerly the cathaholic church being enriched in the process. No wonder Jesus refered to death as sleep. We all have to go sooner or later and I'm hoping for sooner. I've had enough. Beam me up.

Last week I revisited a place in my youth that was important. It no longer exists. Not even an address. Only a vacant lot where my grandmother used to live in a two story tenement that was old 50 years ago. No hot water, and in a bad part of town that's gotten worse with time. She was hooked on American Motors Ramblers because my father had a job selling them soon after college. She's been dead for 30 years but was quite a woman. Worked in a factory. Played bingo with a religious fevor. Had three husbands. All alcoholics, I think. The last was my grandpa. I have nothing but good memories of them. I wonder what it would be like to meet them today. Anybody else with memories like this?

Biblical grounds for reinstatement?
by Haereticus inno i am not even contenplating of pleading for it.. i was reading pay attention to and i paid attention to 2 cor.
2:6,7 which were about the only next to appropriate verses quoted for the purpose.
reading around the verses (not normally recommended for dubs) did not assure me that those verses apply to reinstatement.

Haven't seen this subject discussed in quite a while. Thought I'd bring it up for some air after reading the secret letters to BOE's. Obviously there is no biblical basis for reinstatement policy as the society has taken the law into their own hands rather than trusting in God. You don't expect them to repent and start following Scripture do you? That would be like expecting the pope to resign from the papacy to become preseident of Planned Parenthood.

Disfellowshipping Rules
by LadyCCC ini am so surprised about the latest new light about the generation, i was wondering if the views about how to treat a disfellowshipped person have changed over the years.
this would be quite interesting to find out if there are some old publications that someone may have as proof

Daily Heavenly Manna
"Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted." Galatians 6:1
"LET us learn well this lesson of reproving others very gently, very considerately, kindly, by a hint rather than a direct charge and detail of the wrong-- by an inquiry respecting the present condition of their hearts rather than respecting a former condition, in which we know they have erred. We are to be less careful for the punishments that will follow wrongdoings than for the recovery of the erring one out of the error of his way. We are not to attempt to judge and punish one another for misdeeds, but rather to remember that all this is in the hands of the Lord;--we are not in any sense of the word to avenge ourselves or to give chastisement or recompense for evil." I think the noose just tightened a bit.
by 5go inwe had an interesting local needs.. first it clearly stated if you are not making all the meetings you will not make it in to the new system period no exceptions.
they twisted the story of the red sea to make an example.
saying you can not disobey once, or else you be left stuck in the bottom of the red sea.. from now on the elders will be making shepherding calls on those that are not attending regularly.. also, it was stated that if you know of any not attending regularly.

1Sam 8:10-19
10 Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king. 11 He said, "This is what the king(WTBTS) who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve(AT BETHEL) with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots(DOOR TO DOOR). 12 Some he will assign to be commanders(ELDER/HOUNDERS) of thousands and commanders of fifties(CO's & DO's), and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters(WOMEN A LARGE ARMY) to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14 He will take the best of your fields(COLLECTION BOXES) and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16 Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle [b] and donkeys(CO AUTOS) he will take for his own use. 17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and YOU YOURSELVES WILL BECOME HIS SLAVES(MEETING ATTENDANCE REQUIRED). 18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day."(WHEN YOU ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS INSTEAD OF THE WTBTS)
19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. -

Bible Study Student With A Ton of Questions
by AddaGirl ini am both new to this forum and new to the jehovah's witness organization.
i am currently about half way through the 'what does the bible really teach?
" and have been attending both sunday services and ministerial school for 3 months.. my biggest problem is that, being a researcher by nature, "verifying that all things are true," i have also been researching the organization which has stumbled me greatly.
