if you could list the major themes of the watchtowerland per decade, what would they be?.
for example, 2010-2014: overlapping generation, gb=fds, jw.org, 100 years.
2000-2009: harder stance on higher ed.. 1990-1999: generation no longer a major doctrine.. 1980-1989: getting over 1975, ray franz, year of peace, end before 20th century ends, generation is 70 years old.
All the above are on the mark. I am a born in, and grew up in a large, involved, family of jehovah witnesses. I was baptized in 1955 at eleven years old.
I consider the late sixties as a key turning point. The Malawi persecution was on the front burner, then there was the urgent appeal for funds to buy the Squibb property. All of this in midst of the anticipation of the 1975 end of the world.
They got the real estate deal, the jws in Malawi were forgotten, and '75 was a big jerk off.
so as not to hijack logcon's thread about crazy things jw's have said to householders, i'd like to start one about just plain old odd jw's.. for example, i knew this dear, dear senior brother who would carry a small bag of peanuts in one pocket of his suit coat and a small plastic bag of brown sugar in the other.. during that time, we would stay out all day long because the territory was extensive.. can't you just picture that precious soul alternately tossing a few peanuts/crumbs of sugar into his mouth as he schlepped from house to trailer, from trailer to house?.
the householders would usually offer us water, lemonade, kool-aid, or soda pops, so no problem with finding something to quench our thirsts.. those were the days!.

There was the sister who always ate a hardboiled egg with two saltine crackers during the meeting. This was explained as a blood sugar imbalance. She brought the egg, in the shell, in a paper bag with the crackers and a tiny salt shaker.
Between her and the old Greek brother who munched raw garlic constantly, it was quite aromatic.

when i found out ttatt i realized i'm not special at all.
i'm just one of the other 7 billion human beings who will live and die being nobody, the world will forget about them (and i'm not talking about relatives and friend), they didn't make anything special in their life, they didn't change the course of history, were not famous nor rich, didn't invent facebook, google or anything awesome, didn't have an article published in newscientist, had no imdb profil, not even a wiki page, didn't write a book etc.
Well, i have DNA, fingerprints and social security number. Otherwise, I am just a bug...?

hi everyone, i was discussing with a family member recently and was encouraged to at least consider the benefits of being raised in the truth.
for example,i'm not a drunk, don't do drugs, respect others etc.
the point is i've found lots of nonwitness friends who have similar behavior.. growing up, when a worldly person does something good like help someone i'll hear things like "that's nice of him, for a nonwitness.
Ha ha, I was on committee duty for five years. I once told a fellow elder, over a beer, that if you pulled one hundred average people off the street the majority would be more decent, squared away people than an equal group of jehovahs witnesses. He was flabbergasted.
This was about a year before I resigned.

A dependable rule of thumb as a jw is to NEVER support any non profit or charitable organization except the World wide preaching work. In the case of natural disasters be careful of helping non witnesses. Screw the worldly scum.
As far as buying your field service/fancy go to meeting clothes, Goodwill is preferred over the demonic Salvation army. Garage and Yard sales must be considered as a minefield of demon posessed goods.
