  Do we know for sure what happens after death?

  christian denominations say we go to heaven, witness say we stay alseep until ressurection.

  quran says when we go we grt 72 virgins, unless we blow some people up.. .

  i'm not really concerned with death atm, i'm not dead.

  If your talking about remains, yes. The body decays and bones, teeth and hair can last for centuries.

  If you are referring to our "soul" that is just speculation and a handy tool for those who want to exploit you while alive to do as they say.

  Some say that even if it isn't true, it can give people comfort to believe there is an afterlife.

  Sorry, but I'm not into a fantasy world.

  I agree with the comment above " The only thing anyone can say for sure is that we should make this life count."

  As an elder I was on the receiving end of the bitter disappointment, by brothers who thought they should be elder but were passed over.

  One young man was very aggressive to become an elder. He was hardly dry from being baptized when he started partaking as an annointed. We appointed as an MS. Within months he let it be known he expected to be an elder. His naked ambition was the main reason we passed over him. He was pissed.

  His ambitious nature later made him very rich and famous. As far as I know he is still a witness, and I'm not!

  i've been drinking 1 tbs with a glass of water twice daily for digestion for about 3 weeks now.

  i've found it helps, but it also acts as an appetite suppressant; i've lost several pounds since using it.

  i'm consuming fewer calories because i'm just not as hungry as before.

  I have been taking Braggs vinegar since I posted here 11 days ago. I see benefits. Less phlegm in my throat in the morning is noticible. No heartburn. I also

  like it. I put 2 tbl sp, in 8 oz. of water in a glass with a salted rim. Nice tonic and not unpleasant to me. 2X per day. Thanks for turning me on to it.

  not to take away from yondaime's thread but i just wanted to ask about personal experiences regarding the congregation meetings.. when i was young, [about 10] in the early sixties one brother in our hall used to read the watchtower about once every two months.

  back then they were not too particular about who they got.

  if he was baptized, he would read.. this brother was a terrible reader, he obviously would never prepare and when he came to a word he could not pronounce he simply said, ...' wheelbarrow'.. of course the kids in the hall looked eagerly for the time br.

  Book study group. My reader was young brother who was very shy. We were studying the Song of Solomon book (cant't remember the name of the book.)

  Everytime he came to the word 'breasts' he substituted "beasts". As in "being intoxicated with the beasts of her youth" etc. Made me cringe and I could see some supressed giggles in the group.

  In my opinion, the WTB&TS' only hope for longevity (after the corner they painted themselves into) is to loosen up on the trivial stuff and to stay the hell away from doctrinal/legal/lawsuit traps that they have gotten into in the past.

  They are going to become a mainstream religion but they have to do it with a little finesse. As the old timers pass, they can step up the reformation that will take them well into the future.

  Apog. Don't believe it then.

  But it's true and was common knowledge among the witnesses in the day. My Grandfather and a couple of uncles were available volunteers and personally knew the bodyguards. The canes were used to reach the hecklers who placed themselves in the middle of rows. They would grab them and as they were dragging them out the would give them a rap on the elbow with a loaded cane.

  Why do you doubt it?

  while these idiots think beheading innocent aid workers journalists who have the welfare of the people at heart in these circumstances and then butchering them in such a barbaric manner is going to swing public opinion in their favour is beyond me .. if their is ever a reason to go on the ground including going into syria to rid this pox off the face of the earth this is the last straw and needs to be done now.. no more now pussyfooting around with barbaric medieval murderes , go in and annhillilate the bastards.
