when i was a hyperactive kid, i used to like boxing, and of course muhammad ali.

he was a great athlete, with a one-of-a-kind style who made a stand for his beliefs.. now that i'm older, i admire athletes that are quieter and get on with the job in hand - joe frazier, for example.. i'd like to put american racial politics and ali's tragic current condition to one side and focus on the following:.

how good a fighter was ali?.

I watched or listened to all of Ali's fights. He was an exceptionally skilled boxer. But if he had been a contemporary of Mike Tyson at his peak, he would have met his match.

i just realized that all these dates that the borg have said the end would come on or by and then it didn't happen, have stumbled me.

why such a fascination and trying to divine the answer from scripture when scripture plainly says only the father knows the day and the hour?

by their predictions, they actually sent many christians on the path of date-based worship insted of faith-based worship.. if they have stumbled me, then who is reponsible for that?.

To say that someone has been 'stumbled' is a classic JW tactic that puts the blame on the one 'stumbled'.

"Brother Jones was stumbled because on of the elders diddled his son/daughter."

or in my case, Brother Gregor was stumbled because Brother Annointed Super Elder's baptized 21 yr old nephew tried to have sex with his 12 yr old daughter...(because not only was it concealed by him but Brother Gregor was the bad guy because he took it to the police instead of keeping it in the org.)

We have our 2 great grandaughters here, ages 2 & 4. They are screaming and jumping all over me but that's OK. I am still enjoying them and the game. LOL

Is It Just Me??

I feel badly for your situation.

Breaking away from the JW cult is more difficult for some than others. Shunning is one of the things that can cause real pain to some people.

You apparently are very sensitive to rude treatment from people you felt were 'friends'.

Others may take it in stride and not let it eat at them. I think the most important thing for anyone leaving is that they are confident that the core JW religion is a controlling cult that no more has the "truth" than Mickey Mouse.

As an ex-elder went 'apostate', I had a very high profile DF. The impact on most all of my relationships was completely negative and harsh. I took an attitude that I actually felt pity for them because they were still in the sticky web and may have been full of doubts themselves, but they simply could not face the task of disengageing. That was 0ver 30 years ago, not long after I had resigned as an elder. Many of the people who stayed were people I KNEW already had doubts and were considered 'weak' JW's. Those are the ones that shunned most rudely and they are the ones that are still in!

I wouldn't be in their shoes for the world.
