I know they went way past anything the WTS required, for example, refusing to tell my mother as to the time and place of her mothers memorial service. My mother found out on her own and asked her brother if she could ride with him to the funeral city some 350 miles away. He would be going right through her town on his way. "NO. He said. You're not welcome there!" By the way, her big sin was that she refused to quit associating with me after I was DF'd for 'apostasy'.

by jwfacts inin another thread it was mentioned the witnesses do not shun disfellowshipped relatives, so i thought i would copy a few articles that show the watchtower says quite definitely that they are to almost totally shun relatives, along with some examples that i know personally.
i personally know many that have not been contacted by their parents for years;my cousin was my best friend, and for a year before my disfellowshipping week after week i spent hours with her and her child, who spent 4 months of his first year in hospital.
on the day of my disfellowshipping i was informed that i am no longer welcome there, and i have not seen my second cousin for 6 months now.

My wife and I experienced this first hand about 23 years ago. Our 12 yr. old daughter VS. the 20 yr old nephew of the local, annointed, "super-elder". "You mustn't take this to the 'wordly authorities'! We can work this out right in the cong."
I basically thought about it for 30 seconds and then went to the cops.

Just to make sure I understand. There was a resolution presented that said words to this effect:
Can you believe that the GB is so intensely stupid so as to think that they can make a public statement to the effect that we "won't go to chat rooms" and we will all say "AYE" to signal that their problems with the internet exposing them are over ?
If so, then they are truly desparate. This is pure paranoia. They are as much as admitting that their little cooked up religion is so flimsy that it cannot withstand the slightest breeze of questioning. Sorry ass bastards that go along with this are fools!

Is the onus on us to understand God or vice versa?

with my limited brain power i can only understand what i can experience around me with my five senses.
that doesn't include the spiritual world as i have no biological/neurological receptors for this.

You are asking the right questions. I have traveled this road before you and am satisfied (convinced) with my ultimate conclusion. Many others may never reach the same conclusion because they didn't start their journey with a clean slate as you have.
There is an old movie with Jimmy Stewart called "Harvey". He plays an eccentric alcoholic who has an imaginary friend called Harvey. Harvey is a 7 ft. tall rabbit and Stewart talks to him introduces him to everyone and, of course, they all think he's crazy. But by the end of the movie the presence of Harvey has become so real that many former doubters start to acknowledge 'his' presence and even speak to 'him'. I've always felt it was a allegory for the "God" concept. An illusion so pervasive that after a few hundred years your considered dumb if you don't accept the 7 ft. rabbit, Jesus Christ.

Update:I'm back with my wife
by IronClaw inthese past few months have really been a roller coaster ride to say the least.
i know i haven't been posting much for the past few months, as i was really in a deep depression.
at the end of last month i moved back in with my wife and children.
