Yes, his name was Leon Borgeau. He lived in the Palm Springs area of Southern California. There may be some from that area who could fill in some details?

During the 30's Golden Age of Hollywood a man who later became a JW was an executive with MGM. Prior to that he was an editor and directors assistant on the "Our Gang" series. When MGM requested of the film board that the line spoken at the end by Clark Gable, "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn", it was this man who previewed the clip to the board and explained the studios reasons for wanting to keep the line. As we know, it was allowed and has become a part of Hollywood history.
He was an elder for many years and passed away a couple of years ago well into his nineties. However, several years before, he and his wife had completely rejected the WTS as a bogus religion.

Setting with my wife in 80ish temps, outdoors, on an expanse of lawn surrounded by bougainvillea, palm trees and flowers. A view of purple desert mountains in the distance. The air soft and warm. Early evening, quiet, except for the songs of birds.

The site tells me I am the only one with my first and last name in combination. This can't be true because my adult son has the same name.

Were you a loud singer?
by HockeyMullet ini don't know why, but i was just thinking of this guy in my hall that sang so loud that it was embarassing to just be there.
he sounded like the love child of kermit the frog and miss piggy.
i remember trying to mimick his voice during one song and getting counseled by one of the bros because i had a few of younger guys laughing.

When "Keep Your eyes on the Prize" was the song chosen, (and it seemed to get chosen a lot) my wife would give me a look and sometimes an elbow because I always sang the words "if you keep your eyes on her thighs".

Why Is There a Seemingly Large Percentage of X JW Jerks?
by XJW4EVR inthis is something i posted on minimus' "looked down" thread, and thought i would split it off into another topic.. so why is there a seemingly large number of x-jw jerks in cyberspace?.

Those that choose to leave
Those that were forced to leavePara. got right to the crotch of the answer to the above question. I've touched on this area before but I appreciate that it is a 'sensitive' subject. There are posters here who's backgrounds range from "Saints" to "Sinners". I think what is important for the effectiveness of this forum is that we try to stay focused on a common rejection of the WTS as an "honest" religion. The socializing aspect of this site, discussing sex, politics, corn bread recipes, etc. is no different than dropping into your standard chat room.

Allah... he can dish it out but can't take it.
by Elsewhere inlooks like the all-powerful creator of everything has to hide behind humans when confronted with opposing ideas.
sure, allah can rant on and on about how he wants to kill and torment the unbelievers, but what happens when someone simply questions allah?

The Islam intimidation tactics must work. There is some serious editing on this thread by someone that I can only interpret as fear of retaliation.

Did You Ever Do This?
by Outaservice init seemed that running my business and all the meetings at the hall, plus my social life was taking a toll on my time.
there was a brother at the hall, that was married, and a very good public speaker (used to be a radio announcer) .
anyhow, he was always short on cash and was agreeable to my offer as follows............... if i was assigned to give a talk out of town at a neighboring congregation, i would pay him to take the talk for me as a substitute (at the time $25.00) and then i would stay home that day.. i gave him $10 for an instruction talk, $10 for a service meeting part, and $5 for anything else such as reading the watchtower sundays or a bible reading, etc.. it was a 'win, win' situation for both of us.. outaservice (now out of money).

$25.00 to take a public talk off your hands? That's pretty cheap. I wonder what it would cost to buy off a JC?
