Cash. That is the Aquilles heel. It's true that many are too afraid or brainwashed to think for themselves but despair and anger result in the closing of the wallet. I can't remember the last time I contributed.

Watchtower Society Losing the Information War. What Will Sink the Last Nail
by Rig Boy inwith the proliferation of blogs and forums like this one, ex-jws writing books and protesting, lawsuits, exposure of abuse, pedophilia, and mind control, what more needs to be done to sink this cult and kill it?
do the ex-jehovah's witness have enough momentum to destroy any remaining credibility the watchtower society has, or perhaps, bankrupt it?

Sorry, I can't get used to not hitting enter.
I was thinking about this subject because of the letter that will be read at the meetings this week.
Someone posted not long ago a copy of the UK blood card. It's easily found under "blood/medicine topics"
I found it interesting to note that under autologous transfusions there is a box that can be checked indicating that one would accept this therapy. To me, this is new. If the society is now allowing such procedures by putting them under the heading "conscience matters" what effect will this have on the r&f? I know of some old timers including my self that are pretty blown away.
Also the card indicates that one would be willing to release their medical records to the HLC. Would you be willing to do this? Why brother, how is it that you have cirrhosis of the liver and genital warts? Why is that contained therein? I'm thinking not to benefit the pubs. There must be some legal protection afforded to the Society.

Having Kids
by feelinsketchy inregarding childbearing.
to me it's interesting that the talk given to bethelites asking them to leave for the new downsizing effort contained the phrase: go home and start a family.
that must be a slap in the face to those who stupidly if not sincerely obeyed the misguided direction to refrain from having children because we are so close to the time of the end..

That was my response exactly.

Has the WTS ever sued a "brother" or any baptised Witness?
by Shawn10538 inhopefully someone has some information on this.
i think it is an important question because from recent observation on another jw website, it has come up that some jw bethelites are suing the wts in workers comp cases after getting injured while at bethel.
this is big news to me since i have a similar case outstanding right now.

Maybe a better question is, " Why should someone have to sue the society to obtain compensation for an injury?"
Here is a scenario to consider. A young brother goes to school to obtain a degree as a surveyor. While working at Wallkill on the new printery he is hit in the head by a falling peace of debris and loses sight in one eye. Because of the injury, he cannot work at his chosen profession, and because of his age, he has literally lost a lifetime of income as well as the pain and emotional trauma caused by his injury. Literally, monetarily, he could be awarded millions of dollars for his loss. And no one would argue that he did not have just cause. This would not be a superfluous lawsuit.
Why would someone have to resort to legal action to force the Society to compensate for their loss? This should be a no-brainer. The Society is benefiting from the persons expertise and will continue to benefit from the profits of the construction of the new printery. Even according to scriptural precedent, someone who is injured by a "bull" was compensated by the owner. It is clear that the Society has benefited from the free labor of thousands of willing workers without regard to the injuries they no doubt endured. Why not step up to the plate and pay up?
Because it would mean giving up billions in profits that fund a lifestyle of prominence and excess that no one wants to give up. I used to marvel at the fact that the GB did not receive any more than anyone else at Bethel.. My naivete as well as millions of others was taken advantage of. We did not wake up to the fact that the chosen few at headquarters were receiving perks and green handshakes by the dozen while we swabbed toilets and sold tickets for Jesus.

Finding out that your religion is just another among thousands. You thought it was the "truth" but now realize that it is anything but. As is probably all other religion in the world. How about realizing when you're thirty that your parents died (not lived forever) and you're left holding the bag of empty prayers and dreams they had passed on to you. How about disillusioned over the life you could have had if you had gone to school and weren't stuck working your ass off and still being looked down upon by so called spiritually mature people for providing for your family.
Perhaps most disillussioned that you realized too late that this is something that you do not want to pass on to your own children. Now they too have to overcome monumental obstacles to have even a semblance of a truly spiritual life.
Sorry to be so morose.

JWs and depression
by jstalin inquestion:.
it seems that there is a high rate of depression amongst jws.
does the jw religion cause depression, or are depressed people drawn to the jws?.

What's there to be depressed about?
Your life is worthless, there is nothing that you can do about it and you can't even trust the elders to show any kind of empathy. What's more, you have the sword of Damacles hanging over your head. If you're looking for spiritual healing you'd be better off being an altar boy at a SanFrancisco parish. At least it wouldn't hurt as much.
