You know...they have a problem, Why have they not "discovered" anything new in a hundred years out of the bible? Do they know it all? Or are they scared that if they recant millions will lose faith in them? No, I think they will ride out as long as they can until the numbers start radically falling. It would be nice and wise on their parts to beg people to take their faith out of them and put it in the Bible where it belongs. I don't think they really want their "reward" for caring and searching for the "lost sheep". As we can all see they want these "lost sheep" destroyed. Shame on you Jonah's Witnesses. Jesus wouldn't do that. How can imperfect people teach others to be perfect, and teach them with mere words at that!? How about SHOWING what Jesus did? Go tell Bush he is evil and needs to repent, or he is going to be destroyed, and prove to others his sins so they won't follow in his example. Since they care so much, I am sure The president would be understanding and respect the freedom of speech. Funny, can you see millions of witnesses doing that? Would that be wrong? (would to Bush wouldn't it)

Jesus, the people of his day, and of theology
by drew sagan ini'm sure this has been discussed before on this board, but since i'm new i'll throw it out there anyway.
the watchtower never reveals what the people (mainly jews) of jesus day held as to the afterlife.
it is true that the scribes and pharisees had terrible ideas mixed with greek philosophy and that they stumbled the people.

Well, if someone put stuff in the bible that wasn't supposed to be there, who is going to be punished for it? Us? I don't know any better....I will leave that up to Him. Why did the writer tell Timothy about the future so much? Timothy was almost 2,000 years ago right? Could those letters been directed to us in the future?

Why do you throw people out for asking questions about the bible? If "bad association" spoil useful habits, why did Jesus do it? Can you prove that YOU are not the "bad associations"? Your goals seem to be in line with Satans, wanting others to follow you, worship THROUGH you?, writing books about the Bible, rather then focusing on helping people understand the book so they can read it for themselves, Yes, so they can worship DIRECTLY as you claim to do, or are you special and they are not? Like Satan, your actions declare you want to be God for the people you blindly lead, I hope you get the reward you so desire. IN FULL! My Mom is one of them! Repent "Jonah's Witnesses." And get ready to answer a bunch of questions.

Family Bible Study
by drew sagan inwhat are some good ways a "family head" could study with his family, helping them to see the weak points in watchtower thinking?
i wish to start this somehow, but since "family study" is seen as simply going over some misc.
watchtower publication, i don't see where i can make the headway.

Grab a bible, ask some questions. and try to find some answers. And remember, you are a child too. Everyone needs to start finding out what every word in the bible means to Jehovah, EVERY word. Take nothing on your own reasoning, not "fire", "bad associations", "bread", "wild beasts", I followed the footnotes every one and got a clearer understanding of what the words meant in His vocabulary, throwing aside mine. I learned a whole lot too. I did revelation this way word for word, took me months! I haven't had time to do any of the others. Don't take my word for it though, try it yourself. I could accidently mislead you, but Jesus(you know "the Word of God) I don't think he can or would. That is how I learned.

What if a "leader" defended people rather than judging and punishing them?
by DavidChristopher ini have often wondered this...everyone wants to be a leader.
so if a leader defended people, and others wanted to be like him, would everyone defend others now it seems "cool" to be a punisher and judge, what if the president changed and started defending people accused of things?
jesus that i read about would, and did.

Jesus that I read about would, and DID. I would like to be like him, is that wrong? I have found much happiness in defending people. I have even been helped by those I have defended. Isn't a savior supposed to save others, or is a "judge" and "savior" and "punisher" the same thing? So a cop would be a savior to one person and a judge and punisher to another? Is that how it works?

You cannot please everyone. Someone will say you are doing wrong in their eyes, somewhere. I wish I could play. I like 3DD and AC/DC etc...If I get smited for this...Well DON'T do it. If something bad happens to me for doing it DON'T do it. I would say by your actions, you really care about your friend. THAT could never be wrong. It is also a commandment if you care. Jehovah knows your heart and your intentions, worry about Him judging you, not mere people. You can hang up being judged "perfect" by a bunch of "imperfect" people.
If they try to say you are a "bad association", ask them why Jesus did it, and let me know what they say. Also see if they can prove that THEY are not the "bad associations" ! I would be more concerned that I was not a "bad association" to Jehovah, then worry about their judgement of what you are.
Here is a dilemma....I called my girl from my sisters telling her I was leaving to come home and watch our son so she could go to work. I leave and on my way I see a stranded motorist. I stop and help. There is a infant in the car. I go on home when I get there, I get cussed out and called a liar. Did I "lie"? or "change my mind"? Can I convice her I did not "lie"? Did I break the commandment? Thou shall not lie? This is what you have to remember when people accuse you of things. This is how people portay themselves as "perfect" they define their actions with whatever word sounds like a good thing, but when you do that exact action, they define it with a bad word. politicians specialize in this talent as well. Would the Supreme Court define my action as "lying" would they recommend I be stoned? (with rocks silly)

I have a couple of questions about the bible..Please help! Elders got upset
by DavidChristopher ini tried to ask elders and they got upset with me.
if bad associations spoil useful habits, why did jesus do it?
why is nothing new ever discovered from the bible?
-
DavidChristopher
I know. It really disturbs me too. kind of reminds me of the prodigal son and the late workers wages parables. Would you be upset? I wouldn't. I would like to ask some of "Jonah's Witnesses" that question, but I don't think I would get an truthful answer. Kind of funny really. Because if they were obeying the commandment Jesus gave, they would be committed to that very thing. They sing pretty songs, and talk some pretty words, but their actions tell me what I need to know. I wonder what "bad associations" mean to Jehovah? I would not be suprised to find it is really THEM. If it is....Who is going to warn them? How do WE know who is misleading, or who is being misled? I still love my Mom, I hate her actions, and she is in real deep. Do I give up?...or keep searching to find answers to persuade her to leave her "town" and hope back on the "road" to truth? Well....I don't think giving up on her and judging her as a goat is the correct answer, I would not want anyone to give up on me like that.

Questions about the New World Translation.
by DavidChristopher ini have often wondered who put those footnotes after the words?
see, i was digging and got to thinking....what does fire mean to jehovah?
i know what it means to me.
-
DavidChristopher
I have often wondered who put those footnotes after the words? See, I was digging and got to thinking....What does fire mean to Jehovah? I know what it means to me. But what if it means something different to Him? So I put aside my own reasoning of these seemingly "simple" words. I then set out to search out every one to try to see what the words meant to Him, the Author. I learned "fire" is Holy Spirit! But if I continue to go on my own reasoning, I would believe the earth was going to be consumed with "fire". It was alot of work, but as Paul? said..."if a man doesn't work, niether let him eat". Think he really meant food? Ask Him yourself. Anyone can do it. There is so much hidden wisdom it will blow your mind. All you need is a Bible and a prayer. Really cool way to hide things from people who are wise in their own eyes, and reveal them to a stupid 35 year old mechanic. So the "wise" teachers are waiting for the earth to be consumed with fire and telling others the same, And a stupid mechanic is praying for it to happen? What is up with that? Don't take my word for it, try it yourself.
I have said before to people who try to discredit the bible... It is like giving a mechanic in the 50's a 06 Lexus 430 with a instruction manual. However he throws it away, saying it is too hard to understand to be of any help fixing the car. Problem is, the owner is on His way to pick up the car! What is he going to do? Go find someone "knowledgable" to write a book explaining the manual to him? Maybe sing a few songs praising the Author and the Owner? Do you think the Owner is going to be happy with that, and forget his car is in pieces. Who is going to take the responsibility and the blame for the messed up car? Are the "knowledgable" men who wrote the books to guide the mechanic? They were happy and content to be teachers and guides for the mechanic, enjoying their superiority over him. No they will throw him under the bus and blame it all on him. Should he fix the car, do you think they will introduce Him to the hardworking mechanic who busted ass to get it fixed, or take all credit?
