Good for you Lunar you are so lucky to have heard 'rumors' first. This is what I'm curious about: how did you hear and what was it, before using internet for researching all the dirt on jw's?
Good Luck.

the path my life took ended up with me being a single parent of 4 children.. the jws led me down the path of the "truth".
my grandmother disowned me and i just couldnt understand why.i was told that satan was lurking round every corner trying to get me away from god.

Interesting, seems like they're on the hunt for inactives. They came to my place about 2 months ago, at JW Standard Time (for uninformed readers, it's Saturday morning). My mom was awake, she came to my room and told me but I just waved it off as wishing to sleep in some more. They left and I was aching since to call one of them as we were good friends when I was still a drone. I'd love to ask about the UN business issue but I don't expect any reasonable answer.

For all who are so certain of their faith I challenge your uniquisitive minds to head over to www.talkorigins.org and give yourself a fair chance to see just how debunked every ID claim is. ID is a wolf in sheepskin and I'd rather stick to the good old literal 6-day creation than this crap. Check out just the 'flood' section. Wow there's some 'myths' you got exposed there. Or was it just your ignorance? It's sad how people still dependant on 'faith' are desperate to justify their system of beliefs. Faced with almost daily reports of progress in understanding of evolutionary biology they need to go out of their way and solicit 3rd party confirmation of their middle-age views. Now, hit me with a Boeing 747 and that awfuly complex mouse trap.

Will Jesus return as a man with flesh and blood?
by Star Moore inhope you don't mind if i share a couple of points of why i think jesus is returning as human.
(just my thoughts).

If everyone on earth shared everything, would everyone have it all?
by DavidChristopher ini mean , if a small amount of people had it all, they would have to build themselves a prison to live in to protect themselves from the ones who didn't right?
what is the point of that?
can there ever be peace on earth, if people are punishing and being punished?

I would like to smoke whatever yer smoking m'friend :-) Your question makes no sense to me, but, if I put it into Watchtower teaching context here's what I make of it:
You're referring to the new world after the Armagedon, right? WT teaches that everyone would have their own piece of land and a home where you can have unrestrained sex with your perfect wife. There would be no crime thus no punishment.
BENDER: God, how can I tell good from bad?
GOD : "Good" and "Bad" are just words, what matters is what you think.
BENDER: I know, that's why I... oh nevermind... -

Journal of Church and State: WT NO-BLOOD EXPOSE'
by AndersonsInfo in(baylor university, waco, tx) an essay entitled, "jehovah's witnesses, blood transfusions, and the tort of misrepresentation," found in the autumn issue of baylor universitys prestigious journal of church and state, published december 13, 2005, exposes the vulnerability of jehovahs witnesses religious organization to massive claims for compensation because of the religions misrepresentation of the medical risks of blood transfusions.
this milestone essay critically examines one of the religions main publications for teaching their children and new recruits about their blood beliefs, how can blood save your life?
the peer-reviewed essay details many misrepresentations of medical facts, which the religion partly relies on to support its blood prohibition, thus denying its members from making fully informed medical decisions.

Perhaps not 'amateurish', but we're not talking about a trained professional with years of experience either. If you take this essay exactly as it had been proclaimed by Barb then you're just gullible. Without anything smarter to say all you could come up was a typical forum flame-bait.

I have a couple of questions about the bible..Please help! Elders got upset
by DavidChristopher ini tried to ask elders and they got upset with me.
if bad associations spoil useful habits, why did jesus do it?
why is nothing new ever discovered from the bible?

When we are turned away at the door, why do we not search the scriptures to find more information to convince that person to turn back from their bad ways, so they will not be destroyed?
If I can paraphrase a verse that instructs that if they don't wanna listen then leave that house blah blah. Plus, what're you gonna do when the householder says 'no!'? It becomes a practical matter and 'pushing it' will only make people angrier.
Your real dilemma is why should those poeople who, whether by choice or by chance, have never heard the 'good news' be destroyed? How can one choose to serve god if he never knew all the cool details about him and his 'organization'? Even if JW's knock on their door and they say they're not interested, how do they know what it is they're rejecting? Write them off as 'goats'?
Now if god won't send angels to preach to billions of those who don't know of Jesus' sacrifice, how long would it take to the active publishers to reach majority of these individuals? Even if they're led by holy spirit this would take decades. And what if the person doesn't wanna listen the first time? Does that warrant auto-condemnation or do you go back later?
Finally, doesn't bible itself admonish believer to 'keep testing their faith as to whether these things were true or not'? -

the Big News & 60 Min. or 20/20 or Dateline ?
by carla inwhat if we did a letter writing campaign to one of the big news shows about the 'big news' and asked them to check into this?
i think it would require large amounts of mail to get noticed.
any thoughts on this?

They might proceed it to their legal dep/advisors and I doubt it'll go any further. If we go over to N.Y and chain ourselves to a fence in front of the WT HQ that'll get some coverage on a slow news day.

I do not have a problem with bringing our attention to a news story or a law student's view on WTS policy on blood transfusion. What ticks me off is that it was more than hinted to be 'bigger than Dateline, NBC...'. If this amateurish essay draws media attention, or if it results in a successful ruling against WTS I'll be glad. What's next we're gonna hear? That we 'read into it' and it was our own fault for expecting the end of WBTS? Sounds familiar?
I know it sounds harsh but why not just tell everyone to expect some news but not prefix it with 'big' and let the readers decide if it's really big or not?
