have you been offered assistance by family members and they had a clause in that assistance?
my husband lost his job and we were offered help by his father (who was once an elder but has been reaching out for years).
my husband is not a witness, although he was raised in it.
I would say go the family study and make comments that woulnn't go down well.
Maybe like when they talk about the last days, tell them how things have been much worse in the past. If they talk of the big A as being very near remind them how often the society have been wrong in the past.
Basically bring doubt into the study they will soon get fed up up with it and you can get back to doing what you want to do.
You could have the same fun at the meetings.

at the last convention i couldn't help but wonder what a "worldly" person would think of the drama.
it was all about a witness youth gone astray.
the worldy girls were of course hard drinking sluts who left him at the first sign of trouble as did the evil materialistic friend.
From there point of view and not to mince matters, they believe that very soon, their god Jehovah will destroy all those who are not JWs. So these ones are ruled by Satan. That is what is at the back of their mind all the time.

David I agree with much of what you say. However we already know from independant sources that the JW religion is one of the most mobile in the world. It is reliabaly reported that two thirds of those brought up in the religion leave during their adulthood. So the facts already show that many leave.
I think the figures I stated are reasonable. The only thing I didn't include was the approx 1% who die each year. So if those figures are repeated year on year the only conclusion would be that they were indeed losing many. Suposing the baptisms were increasing at 10% per year and publishers increase was 2.5%. Surely that would mean that many were being lost.
I totally agree it does show a 2.5% increase, but it also shows that many are leaving. These figures are not a science they are purely approxamate.

i'm not at all overweight but would like to lose 8 pounds...it seems impossible!!!.
i think my problem is that i don't exercise enough.
however, i do walk or cycle to work every day.
Strangely I have just lost 8 pounds. I bought myself a treadmill and did 30 mins brisk walking a day.
The other thing I have done is cut out biscuits and cake (not easy)
Sounds like your main problem is chocs and sweets. Maybe cut down on them and cut out biscuits and cake.

Welldone Newborn. I think it takes some guts to have that done just because there is always a small chance it could go wrong. I have worn glasses for 30 odd years and I don't think I have the courage, but certainly it should encourage others to have it done when they here about successful cases like yours.

Factfinder I believe the society disfellowship around 1% a year. But these are still people that they have lost. Remember you don't have to be disfellowshipped. If you say sorry and admit you have done wrong you will not be kicked out. So those who are disfellowsipped and certainly those who disassosiate themselves wanted to leave. So it is still right to say that the society have lost these ones.

I can't see anything objectional in the article. I don't think it has been written by a witness as it is really not written in a witness way.
The one thing it does not say is that the vast majority of the mags go into the trash by people who just take them to get rid of the witnesses and also the millions that just get shoved through letter boxes at the end of the month because the witness has been not able to place them.

Just done some quick number crunching and most of the report does show quite good increase for them.
However the interesting thing I found was the following
Average publishers 2009 =7,046,419 Average publishers 2010=7,224,930 = 2.5% Increase
Average baptisms 2009 = 276,233 Average Baptisms 2010= 294,368 = 6.5%
So it shows 6.5% increase in baptisms and only 2.5% in average publishers
So as usual they attract new ones but then lose many of them after their baptised
