Interesting that it seems to say a person can disassociate themselves orally. In other words just tell the elders you no longer wish to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses -

Another JW Literature Trolly Experience
by Athanasius inthis morning i stopped at dollar general to get a cheap container for waste paper.
it was 11:30 am and there were two jw literature trolleys parked near the store and manned by three jws, on old man in a rolling chair, a 30 something man, and 30 something woman.
as i walked by them i glanced at the their literature rack and proceeded into the store.. i was in the store for 20 minutes and made my purchase.

I didn't think the trolley JWs were suppose to talk to the public. Perhaps this guy was the exception.
They will talk to you, but I think they are told not to get into heavy discussions in the streets. Looks bad in front of the public if the public see them arguing with someone.

185 average publisher increase last year in UK. To get those, they spent over 24,000,000 hours. That is 130,000 hours to get one person. And that includes the kids of JWs lol -

Most things are possible now in the JW religion. Every day the org gets more and more mainstream. It knows it has to do something drastic to get new members and to keep them. There are so many things that are happening now in the religion, which were truly unthinkable just a few years ago.
However as the internet continues to gain pace around the world they will have more and more trouble with member retention. Already in Europe membership has all but come to a stop. They cant even keep their own kids in the religion, much less attract outsiders.

Geoffrey Jackson quote
by Labate inmany posters quote geoffrey jackson as saying " it would be presumptuous" to say that the gb is jehovah's sole spokesperson on earth.. what he actually said was that "it would seem to be quite presumptuous".
this is actually very clever, as adding "seem" to the sentence leaves the possibility that it isn't presumptuous to call themselves "jehovah's sole channel".
(at least in their eyes).

He was asked the question Do you see yourself as God's spokespeople on earth today? If he answered honestly he would have said 'yes absolutely' He chose not to say that. By not saying that he was certainly being less than honest. -

Advice needed
by Peony incan someone tell me the scriptural basis (according to jw's) for shunning disassociated ones.
only asking because i don't remember (probably wasn't that interested) i'm sure the shunning in the scriptures was just applied to disfellowshipped.
i've only been out 3 years but i seem to have forgotten any scriptures or reasoning!

Xanthippe & Peony
That scripture is talking about those that deny Jesus came in the flesh or do not keep to his teachings.
JWs who disassociate themselves normally do so for the reason that they no longer go along with Watchtower's false teachings. Most still have a strong faith in Jesus and his teachings. At baptism these days you have to agree to work along with the org, and if you no longer wish to do that, they will say you have disassociated yourself. However there is nothing in the scriptures that says if you reject any false teachings you should be shunned, and certainly nothing in the bible that says you have to go along with anyone teaching something that is not scriptural.

Has anyone else collected their money back from local Kingdom Halls for money loaned for construction?
by StoneWall injust a reminder if you haven't, to get it back before they sell any more halls.even if you're currently da/df you can still collect any monies owed you by the kingdom hall as far as loans go.we were able to get back $1000 that my mom had loaned the local hall for a loan to build new one.it was documented by the paper that had been given each publisher back then on how much they could/would be willing to give as an outright donation or a loan.
the loan was to be paid back whenever the publisher requested it.
(not a specific date)i can't help but feel that a lot of the old timers that loaned monies to the society and/or k-halls have been forgot about by them or their families.

Really good thread this. There must be many ex JWs who lent money in the past and for whatever reason never claimed the money back. Now is certainly the time to get it back.
