No question JWs love things like this. They will be telling vulnerable people that this shows how man cannot get on together and rule themselves. They will be saying that the only answer is for God's heavenly kingdom, which will be taking over very soon.

Clarification about two witness rule please .
by jhine ini was talking to a witness the other day , she was explaining about false religion, and the subject of paedophiles came up .
of course she was adamant that the watchtower deals swiftly and decisively with offenders .
i was about to ask if she was aware of the two witness rule and how that is a let off for child molesters when l remembered reading on here that now they accept two different accusations from two different victims .
-

Yes that is what they say now. They have had to change their view on this because they realized how stupid their original policy was. However the fact remains that if there is an accusation against a witness of sexual abuse and there are no witnesses, nothing is done They say leave it in Jehovah's hands.

Good to hear the thoughts of someone who is not an ex JW. There will be many JWs who learnt instruments who will not agree with this latest announcement.

JW voting in the EU referendum
by pleaseresearch inso i saw my mum today and saw her polling card that everyone in the uk gets if they are eligible to vote.
i asked if she will or not and she thought that its still wrong.. it's been a while but what is the stance on voting.
this isn't voting for a member of parliament or in the local council.

I think most JWs would just quote the ''no part of the world'' and not vote. If they did vote and other JWs got to hear about it, they would be given a very hard time and certainly thought of as an immature witness. -

She displayed a literature cart in front of my house: That does it for me!
by Tempest in a Teacup inis this something they've asked them to do?
cart displays in front of their homes?
my mom is only in her mid 60s so i'm quite sure this is not an issue of mental illness.. the only illness she's suffering from is boredom since she's refused to work for years now.

Why not set up a chair next to hers, and if anyone shows any interest in the cart, just tell them to avoid it as JWs break up families or something similar. They will soon move I think. -

The smug arrogance of "having the truth".
by stuckinarut2 inhas anyone noticed that witnesses (from the top down) seem to have a quiet form of smug arrogance toward all non witnesses?.
perhaps it comes from being told how "special and unique" they are but they end up looking down on all normal members of the community because they are not witnesses.. so any form of "love" they show those in the territory is also limited as long as they accept the message...otherwise they are viewed contemptuously as "worldly" and therefore of little value...after all, they will be destroyed right?.

I was a witness for over 25 years. I was very smug, I admit it and I am now very ashamed of the attitude I had then. It didnt matter what news came on the tv, I would just smile and say, it just shows how God needs to destroy all the bad things on earth. Same with meeting people on the doors. Most people did not want to talk, so I just smugly thought it will be their funeral. -

CHILD BAPTISM
by megabyte_vijay init is strange to read the last week watchtower that encouraging child/teenagers' baptism.
even jesus was baptised as his 30. jws encouraging marriages at an older age.
but why they are encouraging children to get baptised.
-
alanv
They used to be so proud that children among JWs dont get baptised, and that children have to be of a mature age to understand completely what they are doing. That certainly has changed in recent years. -

questions

especially about the invisible return of jesus.
on which bible scripts do you ground this?

I dont think they needed to converse in Dutch, they seemed very capable of using Engliah -

Prince again (sorry) and possible blood Issue
by anglise inhttp://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/apr/28/prince-prescription-drugs-possession-death-law-enforcement-source.
also part quote below.
prince was believed to have been in need of a double hip replacement, an operation he rejected because it would have required him to accept a blood transfusion, which conflicted with his beliefs as jehovah’s witness.. .

Also this was stated.
On Wednesday, an administrator was appointed to oversee Prince’s estate. The singer died without leaving a will, and on Tuesday his sister, Tyka Nelson, asked the Carver County probate court in Minneapolis to appoint Bremer Bank, National Association to handle the estate, saying it “has provided financial services to the Decedent for a number of years and has knowledge of his personal financial and business financial affairs”.
Hopefully that means JWs wont get any sizeable part of his estate.
