The more anyone looks closely at JW doctrines, the more they will find they dont stack up. When many of us were active in the faith, we simply never questioned what we were told. Now it is so easy to check everything on the internet, and we find holes in the whole religion. Just something as simple as the preaching work is a good example. We were told that the whole world has been preached to. That is a complete lie. Over one third of the world has never even heard of the Jdubs. Of the remainder another third has had very limited contact with them. Its only the last third who fairly regularly see them, and even then, most of the public have no idea about their actual doctrines are and what they really believe.

If you're expecting a mass exodus anytime soon, FORGET ABOUT IT!
by nowwhat? ini have to make a token appearance at the k.h.
once a month or so and this week went to a different hall.
and believe me they are all still totally oblivious to all the negative news about the pedophiles and shunning that have come under scrutiny by the media and other governments.

Morpheus, I havent read all the posts but one thing is for sure. Any increase is not coming form the rich and well informed counties. Last year more people left the org in Europe as a whole than were recruited. Their main contributions need to come from the rich countries and if they are not increasing that means donations are going to become harder to get.

Meghan Markle Will Omit 'Obey' from Her Wedding Vows to Prince Harry
by AFRIKANMAN inwhen meghan markle says her royal wedding vows to prince harry on saturday, she’ll be following in the footsteps of princess diana and kate middleton by choosing to omit the traditional promise to “obey” her husband, the palace confirms.. during the ceremony, officiated by archbishop of canterbury justin welby, meghan will tell her royal groom: “i meghan, take you, harry, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward; for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part; according to god’s holy law.
in the presence of god i make this vow.”.
the decision doesn’t come as a surprise: meghan has long been a vocal feminist, working with organizations like one world vision to learn about the challenges facing women and girls living in dubai and mumbai.

Such a great day today in UK. Practically the whole of the UK will be watching Meghan & Harry's wedding. The fact Meghan will not be saying 'obey' takes nothing away from the fact that they are very much in love and both have huge respect for each other.

by OnTheWayOut inthe reader is very chicago-oriented but for your benefit while reading, "the el" is the elevated train system that ties in with the subway system for commuters and "cta" is the chicago transit authority that runs the commuter trains and buses.

It has a threefold purpose. Firstly it keeps the witnesses busy and stops them doing other things that Watchtower doesn't approve off. Secondly it gives the witnesses the feel good feeling with little or no effort. (These days they dont even answer bible questions, they just point people toward JWdot org.) And thirdly there is a chance they could find someone interested, although so far those ones are few and far between.

I know when I was appointed a mini servant, it certainly helped my self confidence. Also taught me how to teach people and how to stand up in front of 100 or so people and give a talk. So those things for me were quite a buzz.
Of course you can learn those skills from other organisations as well.

They generally completely ignore what Jesus said and just go straight to the elders. They have been doing that for decades

My impressions of the cart witnessing
by Sour Grapes ini have watched tons of youtube videos of our exjdub friends approaching and talking to the jdub manikins at their carts as they give a great witness to the world by sipping their hot lattes, updating their social media, chit chatting to each other, and the most important thing of getting their time in, counting their hours.. when the jw's see someone approach with a camera they do several things, they will turn their backs on the person, or look at the person with a frown and act like the person isn't even there.
the witlesses refuse to answer simple, clear, and precise questions.
when i was an elder i loved to get into discussions and debates with trinitarians, priest, clergymen and those who were born again.

I really think the cart witnessing is just an attempt to keep the jdubs busy, while making it more of a social experience for them, where they can chat to each other and drink coffee etc, and not be distracted by knocking on doors. The members can put in their hours, which makes them feel good, and the org can brag about 2 billion plus hours a year in the work of spreading the kingdom message. What a joke.
