WOW! I just went out and got my newspaper. I live in a small town and the newspaper usually just does local news. I couldn't believe it! The article was in there! If it's in my paper it has to be in most major newspapers. I have to admit, I didn't think the BIG NEWS was all that big, I'm glad I was wrong.

Question for JWs still on the "inside":
by Hellrider injust a question: if you are still jws (for any reason, many just can`t leave because their entire families are wrapped around it, etc), but don`t believe in it, and lead a "double life", how do you cope with going door to door?
i just can`t imagine how it must feel like to go out there and try to tell people at the doors or in the streets things you know are just bs!
how do you deal with that?

It is tough. I usually go to the door by myself. I knock lightly and pray that no one comes and leave quickly. If they do come I just leave the magazines with a very very brief presentation and never return.

What is your rating?
by billyboy inas a bit of a newbie , i'm interested as to the overall viewpoint of site users and spectrum of views.. using a crude gauge , where 1 = completely convinced "stepford"jw ("jhs organisation is wonderful etc") and 10 is a completely rabid "tear down the tower" apostate/ex-witness pathalogically hating the whole jw structure , where do you fit in?
(apolgies to both groups - no offense intended).. i'm about 2.5 - somewhat disillusioned , keen for reforms in certain areas but broadly accepts the teachings and loves the lifestyle.
would never leave.

probably a 5 or 6. I don't believe any of their teachings and would like to help my family out, but I won't be actively fighting the org. I wouldn't shed any tears if they collapsed either.

Quotes from "Clothe Yoursleves With The New Personality" Assembly
by Inquisitor in"i use my time wisely by not spending it with my worldly friends..." and so you chose to spend it with people who devised rules that shut up their female members (with the exception of elders' wives who are skilled manipulators of men and power), ban moustaches and beards (for men too) and frown on higher education.
wise indeed!.
"we cannot find such joy (construction of new kingdom halls) in the jobs that we do in the world..." never had a fat paycheck waved in your face, have you?.

Oh no! I have to attend this assembly soon. I don't think I can take any more college bashing. To sit there and clap, take notes and smile is more than I think I can stand. I just hope I'm not sitting close to any elders who will stare at me the entire time ( they stare at me any time college is mention.) To be honest I'm not sure my jw parents will sit through too much more of that, perhaps this will help them see the light.

College Anyone?
by NYCkid injust wondering who is going to college now and/or who attended college after leaving the jws.
what is/was your major and how do/did you find the experience?
do you find it difficult to choose a major?
-
Collegegurl
I in my second year of college right now. Picking a major is tough for a lot of people. I've had to switch majors. Fortunately I got a couple of good scholarships so I don't owe anything. I really liked high school so I'm enjoying my classes. I'm still at home with my jw parents so in many ways its not really any different.

Great letter. I have been thinking about what to say in my letter. That was a good summary of many of the things that I want to say.

Isn't It Eye Opening When You Realize How STUPID This Religion Is?

I haven't left yet ( all my friends and family are witness), so i do sit there and roll my eyes. It takes a lot of self control. I can't believe that i ever believed this.

College deletions?
by Collegegurl inaccording to our new co, elders nor their children are allowed to go to college.
my dad is being deleted.
evidently new material was presented at the elder school.

I have always been afraid of getting caught. Thats why i normally don't post. I just couldn't believe this was happening to my dad and no one else was mentioning it. I usually read it here first. I don't want to post the letter, it could come back to me. My dad thought this was society policy and didn't want to be labeled a trouble maker by writing the society. This CO is the worst I've ever had, he was always anti-college even before the watchtower article. He's anti health insurance too, (trust in jehovah, not man) which is interesting given that blood letter. I think he likes having power. It must just be him acting like the SS.

There is definitly nothing else. Another brother, an elder, who was taking night classes had to quit. They gave my dad a week to get me to quit, a couple of elders have asked me to quit so my dad could remain an elder. The CO wrote me a letter about this.
